Job Summary

The Manager Asset Management – Operations focuses on the investment management division within Dominion Energy (“DE”) which oversees the pension, savings plan, nuclear decommissioning trusts and other assets. The manager works closely with the Director of Asset Management, providing management and decision-making support, and is responsible for the efficient operations of a multi-billion dollar portfolio ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, data integrity, timely and accurate reporting, and oversight of all transactional activity. This role will interact extensively with external stakeholders, including trustees, banks, investment managers, tax advisors, auditors and actuaries and internal staff including colleagues in accounting, audit, and benefits to ensure the investment operations are running effectively and efficiently.  This position will directly manage a team of investment operation professionals.
This position is also responsible for the following:

  • Monitor industry best practices and direct, design and implement operational processes to ensure effective operations. 
  • Maintain adequate internal controls relating to the monitoring of trust activities that are consistent with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley and the requirements set forth through internal and external audits. 
  • Collaborate and establish strong, effective working relationships with team members and third parties.
  • Responsible for the trustee relationship and services, including working with them on oversight, controls and reporting. 
  • Lead and manage reporting, analytics, and communications of the trusts and ensure data quality.
  • Leverage and utilize technology (including third party systems) to enhance the communication of decision-making information, deliver insights and improve operational processes.
  • Complex activities associated with ensuring compliance with IRS, GAAP accounting, Department of Labor (DOL) regulations, Nuclear Decommissioning Trust (NDT) Regulatory filings, and requirements relating to the monitoring of Dominion's investment trust activities.
  • Ensure adequate liquidity to honor cash distributions for capital calls, benefit payments and expenses.
  • Oversee invoice payment process and all cash movements/reconciliations.
  • Oversee COLI (Corporate Owned Life Insurance) portfolio.
  • Interface with internal and external auditors regarding year-end financial statement disclosures of Dominion Energy, Inc. and the financial statements and IRS Form 5500 filings of the trusts, as well as tax compliance.
  • Design and oversee execution of an operational due diligence process for investment managers.
  • Management of a small team of investment operations professionals.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience


  • 10+ years of experience in investment operations and internal controls and/or a strong financial/accounting background preferred. (Note:  A Master's degree will count as one year of experience.  A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year).
  • Previous experience managing people preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills that allow effective communication across DE teams (including Executive level management)
  • Ability to lead projects and meetings and direct third-party service providers.
  • Broad knowledge of trust accounting practices and procedures including knowledge of ERISA, DOL, IRS, SEC, FASB, NRC and FERC reporting and investment related regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of the various asset classes in a diversified institutional portfolio, investment processes, and performance calculations. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg.
  • Attention to detail, ability to plan, organize and delegate while managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to adapt to change.

Education Requirements

Preferred Degree:    Bachelor or Master Degree

Preferred Disciplines:  Finance, Accounting Auditing, Business Administration & Management
