Job Summary

The Web Communications Intern will assist in maintaining and optimizing Dominion Energy's public website by supporting web content development, digital communications, and user experience initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience with content management systems, website analytics, accessibility standards, search optimization, and digital engagement strategies. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the intern will help create, review, and publish web content that informs, engages, and supports customers while adhering to brand, accessibility, and governance standards. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills in web publishing, content strategy, digital marketing, and digital customer experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with internal business partners to gather approved content, images, videos, and other digital assets.
  • Assist with creating, editing, organizing, and publishing website content using the Sitecore content management system (CMS).
  • Help review and optimize website content to ensure it is clear, accessible, search-friendly, and effectively displayed across multiple devices and browsers.
  • Review website pages for quality, consistency, accessibility, and compliance with brand and content standards.
  • Assist with website testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of content and user experience issues.
  • Support website analytics and reporting efforts by helping monitor performance metrics and identifying opportunities to improve the user experience.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance website content, usability, searchability, and overall digital engagement across web and mobile platforms.

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Experiences

  • Familiarity with digital communications, web publishing, or content management tools is preferred, including:
    • Content Management Systems (CMS): Sitecore, WordPress, Drupal, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
    • Web Analytics & Reporting: Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar platforms
    • SEO & Accessibility Tools: Siteimprove, BrightEdge, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager
    • Design & Digital Asset Tools: Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Adobe Express
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, web accessibility, SEO, and user experience (UX) principles is preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Digital Communications, Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Web Design, User Experience (UX), Digital Media, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Must have an anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later.
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.

Hourly Rate:

 

$21.00 - $27.00

 

The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's degree type, academic major, and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
