Job Summary

This intern position will provide direct support to the Dominion Energy Governance & Compliance organization. This is an exciting time for Dominion Energy as the company is currently engaged in large-scale energy infrastructure construction projects that include: highly efficient combined-cycle gas power plants, the East Coast natural gas transmission line extension, off-shore wind turbines, and solar generation expansion.The intern will support the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) group, which oversees the company's ESG disclosures (for example, the Sustainability Report and Climate Report) and investor engagement and coordinates various sustainability initiatives.  This position will conduct research, benchmarking and trend analysis on evolving environmental, social and governance reporting standards within the industry and provide information on trends within the industry.  Supports the assessment of ESG opportunities and challenges.

 Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • The position requires interest in and familarity with related environmental sustainability theory, public policy and/or environmental regulations.
  • The ability to assist in preparing documents and reports.
  • The ability to assist with analysis and record keeping.
  • The ability to embrace collaborative problem solving
  • The ability to follow written and verbal procedures;
  • Good professional ethics;
  • Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
  • Planning, organizing, and project skills;
  • Effective decision making skills;
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks;
  • Basic computer skills and application of software programs;
  • Analytical and abstract thinking skills;
  • Prefer students with an anticipated graduation date between spring 2020 and spring 2021.

Education Requirements

  • Must be a full-time student currently working towards completing a bachelor’s degree or master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Policy & Admin or a related major
  • Must have an anticipated graduation date between spring 2020 and spring 2021
    • Prefer students with a grad date in spring 2021
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater
    • Prefer a 3.0 GPA or greater
