Job Summary

The Dominion Energy Distribution Emergency Preparedness Center is seeking a student intern to contribute to our mission of providing safe and reliable energy for our customers regardless the threat. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in gaining experience in emergency management, preparedness activities, and emergency restoration operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a variety of emergency preparedness cycle activities including plans review and drafting, exercise development, corrective action plan management, resource planning, and other related events and activities.

  • Attend internal and external meetings and outreach events.

  • Maintain and update business processes and procedures as needed including emergency communication capabilities.

  • Assist in the development and execution of training and exercises based on our emergency plans.

  • Create After-Action Reports (AARs) as needed following emergency events.

  • Design and facilitate a tabletop exercise for the Distribution EPC.  

Education Requirements

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate student graduate in December 2026 or later.
  • Be enrolled in an Emergency Management and or Homeland Security degree program.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

  • Prefer FEMA and/other emergency management course work in training, exercises, NIMS, ICS, and incident management.

Other Working Conditions

  • Some work in the field working with emergency management and public safety officials.

Experience Gained:

  • Collaboration with local/state/federal/private emergency management. stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience in conducting exercises and AARs.
  • Skills in creating and updating emergency plans and procedures.
  • Greater understanding of emergency management, especially within private sector/critical infrastructure.
