Job Summary

The Substation Operations Group provides technical oversight for various budgets, CAR (Capital Asset Rebuild), THA (Transformer Health Assessment), BHA (Breaker Health Assessment), and the Substation Capital Budget. The Substation Capital Budget allows us to upgrade our protection relaying and communication equipment known as Technology Deployment.


 This position is responsible for:

  • Creating Scope of Work projects for Technology Deployment, BHA, and THA improvements. 
  • Monitor project progress and communicate with Relay and Substation Supervisors to ensure projects are on schedule and budget then report to management on a quarterly basis.  
  • Working with the Substation Operations Group as a team to track Substation Capital Budget projects.
  •  Attending field visits for jobs to assure that the Scope of Work that has been created is plausible on site.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Basic knowledge of substation equipment and protection devices in a substation environment.   
  • Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
  • Computer skills and application of software programs.
  • Ability to develop effective planning, project, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Education Requirements

  • Students must be working towards completing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical, Computer, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering preferred, and have completed their sophomore year (by Summer 2023) with a cumulative GPA > 2.5 at an ABET accredited university to be considered. Prefer rising juniors and seniors (an anticipated graduation date between May 2023 and May 2024).

    Students must be working towards completing an associate degree from an accredited two-year technical college in Electrical/Electronics and have completed their junior year (by Summer 2023) with a cumulative GPA > 2.5. (an anticipated graduation date between May 2024 and July 2024).
