Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a summer 2022 Graduate Intern to be a part of the Data Integration team within Electric Transmission. The successful candidate will be part of a team that provides technical support for Dominion Energy Electric Transmission SCADA systems, PI Data Historian, and Data Modeling and Analytics.

Candidates should have a strong electrical engineering background and possess strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices; preferably in electric power systems. This internship will rely heavily on working with and developing software to help automate the maintenance of our data and/or to perform and present the analytics and modeling. Therefore, candidates should poses working knowledge of software development principles as well as solid competency in the Python, C#, and/or JavaScript programming languages. Candidates should also show strong Data Literacy. Experience with time series databases, in particular the PI System is preferred.

Job activities may include:
•    Power system asset modeling and analysis using PI System tools such as PI Asset Framework, PI Analysis, and PI Notifications.
•    Design, development, extension, debugging, and documentation data analysis tools for the Power System and/or Power System Assets.
•    Design, development, extension, debugging, and documentation of software related to the maintenance of the PI System and Data Governance.
•    Design and maintenance of SQL Databases


 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with core software development principles and Object Oriented Design
  • Familiarity with version control tools (Git, Team Foundation Server)
  • Familiarity working with databases and writing SQL
  • Experience developing software to analyze and/or model the power system or its various assets

 

Experience:

  • Must have earned a Bachelor degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a Masters or Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred fields include electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering with a focus on energy systems) from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university.
  • Candidates must have a 3.0 minimum GPA or greater
  • Must have an anticipated graduation date of spring 2024
