We're searching for an innovative and driven IT Infrastructure Architect to lead the charge in shaping the architecture, next-generation design, and security of the network. Be at the forefront of IT & OT networking to include cloud and data center networks, WAN, and other transformative connectivity initiatives. Your expertise will spark progress and power Dominion Energy’s network vision and strategy for the future! 

One position is available which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 
The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements: 

  • Architect and implement advanced network designs across the enterprise for current and future growth strategies. 
  • Support enterprise managed network device configurations (e.g. network switches and routers) and architectures in a high availability environment and support associated network communications, implementations, and modifications. 
  • Serve as a top-level Subject Matter Expert (SME) for networking issues and manage, configure, install, troubleshoot, and provide oversight for network devices and network services associated with Data Center Networks, WAN connectivity including SDWAN technologies, Cloud connectivity networks, and associated communication interfaces. 
  • Provide network engineering expertise in the disciplines of core routing, core switching, network security, and network diagnostics. 
  • Monitor regulatory requirements, industry trends, and potential impacts on networks. 
  • Provide change management review and approvals. Follow change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure. 
  • Act as a mentor to other staff members to broaden network knowledge and technical expertise across the team. 
  • Ensure system drawings and documentation are revised as needed. 

Hiring location preferred is Richmond VA but will consider the right candidate in Columbia SC.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience 

10+ years of network experience with a focus on network architecture, planning, or analysis.   

  • Top Level SME role on major network projects or operations 
  • Expert engineering and operational skills in Enterprise routing and switching environments 
  • Expert understanding of network routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF 
  • Deep understanding of technologies including SDWAN, Cisco ACI, VXLAN, Cloud Networking  
  • Knowledge of utility-specific technologies such as metering, SCADA, and outage management systems. 

Skills not required but considered a plus: 

  • Load balancing, Infoblox, Network Performance Monitoring and Configuration Management Systems, SIEM, Next Generation Firewalls 
  • VoIP, RoIP, Multicast, Voice over WLAN 
  • Experience working in environment subject to regulatory compliance 
  • Experience with supporting an enterprise network at a Utility company that includes working in power generation facilities 

Education Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. However, a combination of relevant education and demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of the preferred degree. Degrees in other disciplines may also be accepted if accompanied by applicable experience.
