IT Auditor or Senior IT Auditor (Richmond VA or Cayce SC)

Job Summary

There is one position available that will be filled at either the Senior IT Auditor of IT Auditor level, commensurate with the selected candidates' skills and abilities.

Under the supervision of the Audit Manager - IT, this role assists in the planning and execution of audits and advisory services that assist Dominion Energy in evaluating the company's IT systems and the safeguards in place to protect systems and data in order to support delivering an independent, objective assurance and advisory service designed to add value.

Supports audit planning and performs testing to assess the design and effectiveness of IT controls and processes in high risk areas. Executes testing to detect technical control weaknesses and process improvements. Prepares workpapers, collaborates with other team members, and leverages knowledge gained for the benefit of the team to accomplish audit objectives. Identifies and confirms IT audit observations and develops and communicates recommendations to enhance the underlying internal controls. Builds strong working relationships with IT and Business personnel and management to understand their goals, processes, risks, and challenges to better position Audit Services to assist.

Performs audit procedures to be used in compliance with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, the requirements under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the related PCAOB Standards as well as any applicable legal requirements or established company policies and procedures. Supports work performed in coordination with the Company's external auditors.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

This role will be filled in either the Richmond, VA office at 8th & Main or the Cayce, SC office at 400 Otarre Parkway.

Travel required: Up to 10% (primarily to other Dominion Energy locations).


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

IT Auditor

  • Master's degree with 2 years of IT audit or related experience or 2+ years of public accounting experience required OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of IT audit or related experience or 3+ years of public accounting experience required OR
  • Associate's degree with 5 years of IT audit or related experience or 5+ years of public accounting experience required OR
  • High school diploma or GED with 7 years of IT audit or related experience or 7+ years of public accounting experience required


Senior IT Auditor

  • Master's degree with 4 years of IT audit or related experience or 4+ years of public accounting experience required OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of IT audit or related experience or 5+ years of public accounting experience required OR
  • Associate's degree with 7 years of IT audit or related experience or 7+ years of public accounting experience required OR
  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of IT audit or related experience or 9+ years of public accounting experience required


Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for IT Auditor and Senior IT Auditor:

  • Experience in IT security/Cybersecurity, IT Auditing, IT Operations, or related field a plus.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrates understanding of IT general controls and application controls
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient personal computer skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Able to provide, receive and apply constructive feedback
  • Results oriented both individually and as a team
  • Working knowledge of evaluating the design effectiveness and operational effectiveness of a system of internal controls is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP, Unix and/or Linux, and Active Directory is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GAAP is a plus
  • Strongly prefer Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Six Sigma experience/certification is a plus.

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
