We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

The Fleet Sourcing Specialist supports the acquisition, planning, and lifecycle management of fleet vehicles and equipment that enable safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations across the enterprise. This role partners with internal customers, Fleet Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to develop vehicle and equipment specifications, execute sourcing strategies, support fleet replacement planning, and identify opportunities for standardization and continuous improvement. Fleet Sourcing Specialists serve as trusted advisors on vehicle and equipment selection, supplier engagement, lifecycle cost management, and fleet optimization. Depending on experience and level, employees may support or lead sourcing initiatives involving light-duty vehicles, medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, construction equipment, material handling equipment, and specialized utility assets. Through collaboration, technical analysis, and strategic planning, Fleet Sourcing Specialists help ensure fleet assets meet operational, safety, financial, and long-term business objectives. The level of the position will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

 

Associate Fleet Sourcing Specialist Key Responsibilities

  • Support fleet vehicle and equipment sourcing activities, including quotations, purchase requests, and procurement documentation.
  • Assist with vehicle and equipment replacement planning through data analysis and lifecycle reporting.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, dealers, upfitters, and fleet management partners to support fleet acquisition and deployment activities.
  • Monitor vehicle orders, delivery schedules, and fleet-related performance metrics.
  • Review and maintain fleet records, sourcing documentation, and procurement data.
  • Support supplier performance tracking, reporting, and issue resolution activities.
  • Assist in evaluating total cost of ownership, utilization, and replacement alternatives.
  • Develop reports and presentations to support fleet planning and business decision-making.
  • Provide excellent customer support to internal business partners regarding fleet programs and equipment needs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve fleet efficiency, standardization, and service delivery.

  • Manage sourcing activities for assigned vehicle and equipment categories.
  • Partner with business units to identify vehicle and equipment requirements and recommend solutions that meet operational needs.
  • Analyze fleet utilization, replacement criteria, maintenance history, and lifecycle costs to support replacement planning decisions.
  • Develop and evaluate sourcing recommendations, supplier proposals, and procurement alternatives.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers, dealers, upfitters, suppliers, and fleet management partners to support vehicle acquisition and deployment activities.
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and fleet-related service levels.
  • Participate in bid evaluations, sourcing events, and supplier selection activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of vehicle and equipment standards.
  • Develop fleet reports, dashboards, business cases, and presentations to support decision-making.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on fleet efficiency, standardization, safety, sustainability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging vehicle technologies, industry trends, and supplier capabilities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers and fleet categories.

Senior Fleet Sourcing Specialist Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing activities for complex fleet vehicle and equipment categories, including light-duty vehicles, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, aerial devices, cranes, construction equipment, and specialized utility equipment.
  • Develop fleet replacement and acquisition strategies that align with operational requirements, lifecycle objectives, budget constraints, and enterprise fleet standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business units regarding vehicle and equipment selection, utilization, standardization, and replacement planning.
  • Support and/or lead supplier evaluations, sourcing events, bid reviews, and contract support activities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with manufacturers, dealers, upfitters, suppliers, leasing partners, and fleet management companies.
  • Evaluate complex supplier proposals, vehicle configurations, equipment options, and technical specifications.
  • Review and analyze vehicle and equipment specifications, engineering drawings, CAD drawings, layout drawings, body-builder drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, and other technical documentation to support sourcing and equipment selection decisions.
  • Conduct total cost of ownership analyses, lifecycle cost evaluations, utilization reviews, and business case development.
  • Support fleet standardization initiatives that improve operational efficiency, maintenance effectiveness, safety, and asset reliability.
  • Monitor supplier performance, market conditions, production constraints, and emerging industry trends.
  • Support capital planning, forecasting, and long-term fleet strategy development.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier performance, sourcing effectiveness, fleet optimization, and cost management.
  • Mentor Associate Fleet Sourcing Specialists and Fleet Sourcing Specialists and support knowledge development within the organization.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists supporting fleet specifications, sustainability initiatives, electrification strategies, and emerging technologies.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Sourcing Specialist:: 0-2 years of directly related general knowledge of procurement practices, procedures, and policies.

  • General knowledge of company systems, processes, and/or interfaces.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • General knowledge of fleet vehicle operations and systems, to include manufacture specifications and business practices.
  • Good verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Preferred Associate experience:

  • Coursework or experience involving vehicles, equipment, mechanical systems, logistics, business analysis, procurement, operations, or supply chain management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, maintenance and work order systems,  or other data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated interest in fleet operations, transportation, automotive, heavy equipment, or utility operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand vehicle and equipment specifications.

 

Fleet Sourcing Specialist: 2 years of relevant experience in fleet operations, procurement, sourcing, logistics, asset management, equipment management, maintenance, business analysis, operations, construction, manufacturing, transportation, utility operations, military logistics, or a related field. In addition to the above experience, the Mid-level must also have: 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make sound business recommendations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred mid-level experience:

  • Experience with vehicles, heavy equipment, construction equipment, utility equipment, transportation assets, or mobile work equipment.
  • Knowledge of fleet lifecycle management, replacement planning, asset utilization analysis, or total cost of ownership principles.
  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, dealers, upfitters, or contractors.
  • Experience with ERP, fleet management, maintenance management, or reporting systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret vehicle, equipment, and upfit specifications.
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating vehicle and equipment specifications, engineering drawings, CAD drawings, layout drawings, body-builder drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, or other technical documentation used to support fleet and equipment procurement decisions.
  • Familiarity with vehicle weights, payload calculations, towing requirements, equipment dimensions, center-of-gravity considerations, and operational performance requirements.
  • Knowledge of utility fleet equipment including light-duty vehicles, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, aerial devices, cranes, digger derricks, construction equipment, or specialized utility equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience continued

Sr. Fleet Sourcing Specialist: 5 years of relevant experience in fleet management, sourcing, procurement, supply chain, equipment management, maintenance, operations, engineering support, business analysis, logistics, transportation, construction, manufacturing, utility operations, military logistics, or a related field. In addition to the above experience, the Senior must also have: 

  • Working knowledge of vehicle design, chassis specifications, body installations, payload calculations, towing requirements, axle ratings, GVWR compliance, equipment dimensions, weight distribution, and operational performance requirements.
  • Experience supporting specification development, equipment standardization initiatives, or technical fleet evaluations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated experience evaluating complex vehicle and equipment configurations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex projects and business relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience evaluating data and making business recommendations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, business reporting tools, maintenance and planning systems and software.

Preferred Sr. experience:

  • Experience supporting large fleet operations involving utility, construction, transportation, municipal, heavy equipment, or commercial vehicle applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of fleet lifecycle management, replacement planning, utilization analysis, capital planning, and total cost of ownership methodologies.
  • Experience developing sourcing strategies, participating in contract negotiations, supplier performance management, or category management activities.
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating vehicle and equipment specifications, engineering drawings, CAD drawings, layout drawings, body-builder drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, and other technical documentation used to support fleet and equipment acquisition decisions.
  • Familiarity with alternative fuel vehicles, fleet electrification technologies, telematics systems, or emerging fleet technologies.
  • Experience with ERP, fleet management, maintenance management, procurement, or reporting systems.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Finance, Fleet Management, Automotive Technology, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field.

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

Associate        $52,800 to $68,600

Intermediate   $65,500 to $85,000

Senior             $81,900 to $106,400
