Dominion’s Corporate Risk Engineering group provides loss control support to all of Dominion’s business units as well as the engineering interface to our insurers.  We are heavily involved in the transition to renewable energy with projects such as offshore wind and battery energy storage.  These projects as well as support to our existing facilities provide an opportunity to our engineers to mitigate complex loss control and fire protection hazards that are not typically seen outside of industrial fire protection.

All forms of fire detection and protection systems are present in Dominion Energy facilities, including special hazard systems such as clean agents, CO2, low and hi ex foam, dry chemical, hybrid water mist, and water spray.

This role will work in all conventional aspects of Fire Protection Engineering.  The position will perform and/or review engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. The position will also provide cost analysis as needed and develop recommendations based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review.  This individual will exercise independence in evaluating, selecting and applying loss control and fire protection standards or well-defined fire protection engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.  The application of fire protection engineering principles, industry standards and other guidance to develop risk reduction solutions is critical to this role.
