Job Summary
This position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Dominion Energy's Facilities Management group is looking for a Facilities Technician I or a Facilities Technician II to work in the Facilities Critical Infrastructure Group out of our Charles City Road and northern neck Dinwiddie and Williamsburg offices. This position will perform building maintenance related tasks at Substations, Microwave Towers, POP sites (Point of Presence), & Solar Facilities in a geographic region spanning throughout the northwest and central northern operating territories.
The duties of the position include, performing preventative maintenance, repair, and customer request work orders independently to ensure buildings & equipment operate at optimal performance. Tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire systems, and emergency standby power systems independently. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
Additional responsibilities for the Facilities Technician I position:
- Assists with evaluating building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations.
- Manages external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements.
- Completes or assists in testing, inspecting, and maintaining environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations.
Additional responsibilities for the Facilities Technician II position:
- Provides technical guidance and training to peers regarding equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Evaluates building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations.
- Manages small O&M or capital improvement projects.
- Manages external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements.
- Completes or assists in testing, inspecting, and maintaining environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Facilities Technician I
1+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade.
- Basic knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems.
- Basic knowledge of engineering and design principals.
- Basic Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations.
- Basic Knowledge of federal, state, and local code requirements.
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems with guidance from senior Technicians.
- Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations to leadership with guidance from senior Technicians.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain multiple facilities across a large geographic territory.
- Ability to work overtime and respond to afterhours emergencies when necessary.
- Ability to build strong partnerships with peers, internal customers, and external vendors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in the use of technology such as personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
Facilities Technician II
5+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade.
- Expert knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems.
- Knowledge of engineering and design principals.
- Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local code requirements.
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems.
- Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations to leadership.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain multiple facilities across a large geographic territory.
- Ability to work overtime and respond to afterhours emergencies when necessary.
- Ability to build strong partnerships with peers, internal customers, and external vendors.

Education Requirements
Associate degree (currently possesses or will possess by June 2025) or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
Preferred Discipline(s): Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Experience and License as Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, HVAC Mechanic or Certified Building Mechanic preferred.
Prefer that candidate have or be willing to obtain EPA Certification - Type I, II, III (Universal) and R-410A Certification.
