We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Join the Legislative Outreach team focused on political engagement to support the energy policy-making process ensuring Dominion Energy can deliver on its mission of providing reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy to power customers and communities every day. In this role, you will be part of the strategic planning and execution for the Political Action Committee (PAC) and advocacy programs. Administering, maintaining, and growing the PAC is critical for our ability to engage and amplify our voice in the political process. Implementing grassroots advocacy initiatives with stakeholders on major projects and legislation is a priority as we move the organization forward into the future.

 

Specific job duties include the following:

 

  • Fundraising and Membership Development: Crafts compelling PAC recruitment communications and solicitation campaign materials. Develops and executes membership retention initiatives. Builds and sustains relationships with donors, candidates, and vendors.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Assists in the processing and oversight of PAC bank account disbursements, reconciliations and campaign finance filings. Ensures transparency and adherence to Federal Election Commission regulations and state/federal laws. Produces program plan and reports for executive updates.
  • Event and Database Management: Plans and coordinates PAC events and logistics for members, external speakers, and PAC Board of Directors meetings. Maintains accurate records in the database. Tracks and analyzes participation for strategic programming.
  • Strategic Planning: Aligns PAC support with legislative priorities and objectives. Participates in multi-departmental planning and organizing of engagement activities in coordination with company energy policy goals.
  • Communications and Grassroots Engagement: Produces content supporting civic engagement and education on important energy policies and infrastructure with internal and external audiences. Facilitates grassroots advocacy campaigns for stakeholders to participate in the public dialogue around key projects and legislation. Generates reports on campaign effectiveness and presents results to leadership.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

5+ years of related experience and demonstrated knowledge of government, public policy, economic development, political campaign and communications. Excellent writing and public speaking skills. Ability to multi-task, synthesize ideas, and plan strategically. Ability to coordinate work among variety of skill sets.

 

Preferred knowledge and experience include:

 

  • Experience with fundraising and campaign contributions.
  • Knowledge of campaign finance reporting regulations.
  • Communicating with broad audiences.
  • Understanding legislative processes.
  • Involvement in event planning.
  • Stakeholder engagement, including encouragement of contacting legislators and attending events.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Communicates effectively and develops rapport with variety of internal and external publics. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrated computer and database skills. 

Education Requirements

Bachelor Degree or higher is desired.
