We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist II to join our team to support Dominion Energy facilities with Clean Air Act environmental data analysis, compliance, and permitting under the direction of the Manager, Environmental – Corporate Air Programs. The Environmental Specialist II assists with data management; data analysis, air compliance report development, and air permitting application preparation. Technical complexity of work is medium to high.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports the development and implementation of complex air quality programs and projects to support Dominion Energy compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Supports air programs related to emissions inventories, testing, monitoring, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Supports business groups during environmental inspections and audits as necessary.
  • Assists in scientific studies, projects, and programs related to air quality as requested.
  • Assists in analyzing problems and developing compliance strategies.
  • Assists in developing and conducting environmental compliance plans and training.
  • Advises on operations, construction, procedures, records, and training, which ensure compliance with environment requirements prescribed in laws, regulations, company policies, and company procedures.
  • Assists with analysis and interpretation of new and existing regulations to provide regulatory and guidance to company personnel to ensure or improve compliance.
  • Assists in the coordination of environmental permitting activities and applicability assessments for company facilities and operations.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports for submittal to environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Uses electronic applications and databases to analyze and monitor company compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Adheres to Dominion Energy safety rules and safety performance expectations.
  • Adheres to Dominion Energy environmental policies, guidance, and work practices.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 3+ years directly related environmental experience including permitting and compliance, data management, and monitoring. (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience).  Prefer candidates with some directly related experience with Clean Air Act requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act and local/state/federal air regulations including emissions inventories, emission or surrogate monitoring systems, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements to support Dominion Energy air permitting and compliance.

  • Ability to work in a geographically diverse team environment making use of conferencing and collaborative applications (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Webex).
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively utilizing computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.


Note:  This position will be predominately in the office (80%), with occasionally visits to field locations (20%).

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:  Bachelor
