Job Summary

 

This intern position will assist environmental staff in performing and administering scientific studies and projects related to air or water quality, solid waste, toxics, biological assessments and studies or similar environmental programs.  May assist staff with environmental projects such as air quality, NPDES, wetland and stream encroachment permitting studies or inspection, surface and groundwater programs, toxics programs, and environmental assessments.  Assists with report analysis, data management, and report preparation.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and on project teams
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills needed to work in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • General knowledge in the Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Engineering or related fields of study
  • Ability to collect and analyze data using spreadsheet software, such as Excel
  • Ability to create presentations using software, such as PowerPoint
  • Active involvement in Tribal and Native serving organizations
  • Leadership experience in Tribal, student or volunteer groups or organizations

Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled members of a Native American Tribe.

 

Education Requirements

  • A student currently pursuing a 4-year degree at an accredited college
  • Must have an anticipated graduation date of spring 2024 or 2025
  • Candidates must have a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA.
  • Preferred disciplines include: Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Engineering or related fields
