We offer a hybrid work schedule (one week in the office, one week of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Ensures company compliance, at a specific location, with environmental, chemical, waste management, and permit regulations. Has responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the work site, to comply with regulatory and company standards and procedures. Serves as liaison with external and governmental agencies. Coordinates with and monitors operations and maintenance personnel, to ensure site compliance with environmental, chemical safety, waste management, and wildlife management rules and regulations. Inspects or assesses, and provides recommendations regarding compliance issues to management. Analyzes data, and prepares management reports on environmental compliance or safety records. Serves as primary site coordinator with internal department and external agencies on environmental, safety or chemical management issues. Serves as contact with community to resolve complaints or problems. Procures services or materials for the administration and implementation of environmental and safety programs. Coordinates hazardous waste disposal. Provides training to site personnel in handling of chemicals and waste materials, and for other procedural requirements. Evaluates new regulations and coordinates compliance plan.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Environmental Compliance Coordinator: 3+ years directly related experience.

Senior Environmental Compliance Coordinator: 5-6+ years directly related experience.

Both levels:

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required for entry into this role include:

• Directly related experience and knowledge typically gained through an Associate’s degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus at least 2 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and compliance requirements
• Ability to develop, implement, and administer environmental compliance plans
• Ability to interpret and apply environmental requirements to company operations and translate regulatory, permit, and plan requirements into clear compliance guidance
• Ability to prepare and/or review compliance and regulatory documents and reports
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
• Analytical and record-keeping skills
• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and in field environments

Senior Level – Additional/Advanced Qualifications

Significant directly related experience and knowledge typically gained through an Associate’s degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of relevant experience, including:

• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and applicable permits
• Proven ability to develop, implement, and administer complex environmental compliance plans and processes
• Ability to interpret and apply environmental requirements and translate regulatory, permit, and plan requirements into practical compliance guidance
• Ability to prepare and/or review complex compliance and regulatory documents and reports
• Strong technical writing, communication, and public relations skills
• Strong data analysis and record-keeping skills
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and be self-directed
• Ability to work in field environments
• Ability to manage contract resources
• Ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically with regulatory agencies, the public, and internal stakeholders at all levels

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Associate
Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Environmental Science, Enivronmental Technology, Science, Technical, Environmental,

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
