Job Summary
We are seeking candidates interested in supporting environmental compliance at the Dominion Energy - Castlewood Materials, Metering and Recycling Center at 4307 Castlewood Road, Richmond, VA. The facility manages new and used transformer oil for the company’s Power Delivery business group. They assess and repair transformers, meters and other electrical distribution components as well as manage waste streams generated from processes related to work conducted at the facility. The facility also manages inventory of materials used in Power Delivery in the warehouse and laydown yard. Candidates should live within 1 hour of facility to be able to support emergencies in a timely manner.
*This role will be filled at the level based on the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental requirements at the Castlewood Materials, Metering and Recycling Center. The ECC will serve as primary site coordinator with internal department and external agencies for all environmental programs for air, water, chemical / waste management, and oil compliance. Some additional details of the roles and responsibilities include but not limited to:
-Conduct routine regulatory inspections of stormwater management area, oil filled equipment storage, aboveground oil storage tanks and waste collection areas at the facility.
-Conduct stormwater sampling as required by the NPDES permit.
-Maintain records, analyze data, develop, and implement best practices and/or corrective actions, and prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies as required.
-Conduct self-assessments of environmental programs and implement continuous improvements. Maintain documentation of environmental events that occur at the facility.
-Update and maintain Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan.
-Procure services or materials for the administration and implementation of environmental programs and projects, such as managing waste onsite, coordinating disposal, conditional use permits, and maintenance of oil and stormwater infrastructure.
-Provide recommendations regarding environmental compliance issues to facility leadership and personnel responsible for compliance tasks.
-Provide environmental training to site personnel in handling of chemicals and waste materials, spill prevention, stormwater pollution prevention, erosion, and sediment control and for other environmental compliance topics and requirements.
-Responsive to planned and unplanned work occurring during and outside of typical business hours 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.
-Other duties as assigned to support the Environmental Management System, individual and team development, and Dominion Energy Virginia environmental excellence.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Intermediate +2 years of significant directly related experience and knowledge (with a Bachelors degree or 4+ years relevant experience with an Associates)
Senior +5 years of significant directly related experience and knowledge (with a Bachelors degree or 7+ years relevant experience with an Associates)
-Strong knowledge of related environmental regulations and applicable environmental permits
-Proven ability to develop, implement and administer complex environmental compliance plans and processes
-Ability to interpret and/or apply environmental requirements to company operations and translate regulatory regulations, permit and plan requirements into understandable compliance guidance
-Ability to prepare and/or review compliance and regulatory documents and reports
-Strong technical writing, communication and public relations skills-Strong data analysis and record keeping skills-Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel and Power Point)
-Excellent organizational, time management and leadership skills-Ability to work independently and to be self-directed-Ability to work in field environments-Ability to manage contract resources-Ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with regulatory agencies, the public, and company personnel at all levels.
The role may have Non-Dominion Energy Workers (NDEWs) report to them.
