We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
Dominion's Power Generation Business Unit seeks an Engineer with a strong background in Balance of Plant systems and equipment. This position will support facilities on a wide variety of mechanical equipment. This will include equipment selection, troubleshooting, operational issues, specifications, bid reviews, equipment manufacture evaluations, large and small project technical assistance. The facility generation types include coal, gas, bio-mass, hydro, pump storage, solar and offshore wind.
This position will be located at Dominion's Headquarters Building in Richmond, VA.
The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements for the non-nuclear Generation fleet and its auxiliaries.
Will provide the following corporate support in accordance with applicable codes, standard and regulatory requirements to Dominion’s Power Generation (non-nuclear) fleet:
1. Pumps –Be able to select and understand the operation and functionality of a wide variety of pumps. Read and utilize pump curves. Understand the requirement for proper pump operation and maintenance.
2. Valve – Understand a wide variety of valves including actuation mechanisms, control valves and manual valves. Understand the application and limitations of each type of valve.
3. Heat Exchangers/Cooling Towers– Understand the different types of heat exchanges, how they work, design limitations, applications for each. Cooling tower operation, limitations, maintenance, performance issues and what may cause them.
4. Fans – Understand basics of how fans work, fan types, if changes are made what affects it will have on the fans performance and other issues that could affect performance in the system.
5. Miscellaneous – Understand mechanical seals, couplings, other seal types, valve packing, piping systems and gasketing.
6. Troubleshooting – Be able to support facilities with troubleshooting issues with Balance of Plant equipment when issues arise to determine the cause.
7. Engineering Technical Support – Includes technical studies, field assessments with station personnel, troubleshooting, work scopes and specification development, cost estimates, construction support, vendor and QC surveillance, and Root Cause analysis.

Engineer
• 2+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.

• Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.
• Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations.
• Planning, organizational and project management skills.

• Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).

• 8+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience

• Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
• Strong personal computer skills.
• Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
• Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
• In depth knowledge of various computer applications
• Equally effective working independently or in team environment.
• Proven decision-making skills.
• Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Education Requirements
Education Level Required: Bachelor's in Engineering
Preferred: Mechanical Engineering
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET
- Holds or has previously held a valid Professional Engineer license.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
- Fundamental of Engineering (FE) preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

1. Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays, especially in outage seasons.
2. Office environment (60%) and Power Station environment (40%)
3. Travel time – 25% (will be able to be home most of the time) Approximately 15% will be overnight travel (particularly during outage season in spring and fall)
