Job Summary
With guidance from Power Generation’s engineering and operations group provides system development for Energy Supply’s Generation Management System (“GMS”) used to monitor and operate the Dominion Energy Virginia regulated fleet of generation units. This includes the Day Ahead LSE Demand and Ancillary Market participation within the PJM Market and other Power Generation owned system assets that are managed by the Real-Time Electric Market Operations Center (“MOC”). Assists with the design, coding, modeling, development and documentation of the GMS; particular attention to MOC interface within the GMS application. Applies vendor design tools to build necessary user interface displays, configures generation market parameters in GMS, monitors and manages alarms, and tracks historical trends to optimize the portfolio of generation. Works closely with Power Generation engineering and operations personnel to ensure software systems are configured to the design specifications required to operate the Bulk electrical system ensuring compliance with PJM Market rules and policies.
Responsible for assisting staff with analysis, making recommendations for changes to internal processes and/or standards/specifications in order to create more efficient and streamlined operations for the Power Generation business unit. Applies process modeling and vendor design tools, process improvement methodology, benchmarking, project management, and change management processes to assigned projects. Develops or performs significant modification to the existing vendor software and data systems via custom calculations to help manage and optimize financial outcomes for DEV and customers.
Performs analysis and writes GMS business requirements for new GMS development and other information and data systems used by Energy Supply to develop working knowledge, skills and abilities, required to successfully apply business unit policies, procedures and best practices within scope of role. Works under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules for integration of new development. Individual within this role displays continued ability to learn and develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to reach the Senior level of proficiency and work complexity.
Assists Training Coordinator with newly created functionality and development within the GMS System.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Associate Analyst: 0–2 years of general knowledge and coursework in design tools, coding, process modeling tools, and configuration.
• Ability to document business requirements with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Strong technical and analytical abilities with aptitude for understanding and applying software concepts.
• Customer service orientation and willingness to learn from business contacts.
• Ability to think logically, analytically, and conceptually.
• Ability to interface and participate with various departments and customer groups to understand business needs.
• Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate work sessions in a team environment.
Intermediate Analyst: 2+ years of coursework in design tools, project management, data analysis, or computer programming OR a minimum of 2+ years in business or business systems roles.
• Ability to communicate between business and IT groups to support data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to support or lead projects; capable of analyzing Real-Time Operations to design innovative system solutions.
• Ability to train others on business and department systems.
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Oracle, C, SQL, VBA, Power BI programming, Python, PowerShell, and other programming tools (preferred but not required).
• Ability to design system solutions based on real-time operational needs.
• 2+ years of experience in OSI application development, business software systems, project management, data analysis, or computer programming preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in OSI application development, business software systems, project management, data analysis, or computer programming preferred
Senior Analyst: 5+ years of coursework in design tools, project management, data analysis, or computer programming OR 5+ years in business or business systems roles.
• Advanced proficiency with generation or other electric utility related business systems preferred.
• Ability to interpret and visualize data to support business decisions.
• Familiarity with application development, system integration, or collaboration with technical teams.
• Experience supporting or leading projects, including in business-focused capacities.
• Understanding of communication systems and how they interact with business processes.
• Ability to work independently, make critical decisions, and mentor/train others.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to write business requirements for new development.
• Ability to design and organize database structures for data retention and analysis.
• Ability to write custom calculations and design user display interfaces for managing large datasets.
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming, Oracle, C, Power BI programming, Python, PowerShell, SQL, VBA, and other tools preferred.

Preferred degree:
Bachelor
Preferred Discipline(s): Computer, Mechanical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems, and Cybersecurity

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
PJM (Generation) and NERC Reliability Engineer credentials a plus.
