Job Summary

The Electric Transmission System Operations Center is looking for an Operations Consultant to facilitate the most complex work sequences between the various projects in congested areas of the system. The electric transmission system is currently experiencing unprecedented growth. The system is expected to double in capacity served in the next 10-15 years. The majority of these new loads will be connected in regions where the grid will need to be expanded simultaneously while serving both existing and newly connected customers. These regions are highly developed, forcing projects to be constructed in tight areas with limited options. Data center customers have high expectations for connections and cannot tolerate continued delays in construction. This individual will work independently to consolidate work outages, organize project schedules, and facilitate outage sequences to maximize construction activities. For long-term (planned) outages, the incumbent will be developing and coordinating outage sequences with ET Senior Leadership and Project Managers, as well as coordinating with PJM on outage reliability sequencing. This role effectively interfaces with all stakeholders such as System Operators, ET Construction and Operations, PJM outage schedulers, ET Project Managers, Generation Operators, Electric Cooperatives, Interconnected companies, as well as the Regional Operations Centers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Minimum of 12+ years directly related electric transmission experience.
  • Strong knowledge of capital transmission work construction methods.
  • Knowledge of transmission line and substation O&M procedures and designs to facilitate temporary designs.
  • Demonstrated record of safe operating practices.
  • Ability to travel to all regions of the system and operate safely in those environments.
  • Knowledge of SOC clearances and tagging procedures.
  • Demonstrated communication skills including written, oral, and presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Strong demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
