Electric Distribution Program Manager - DER

Job Summary

Dominion Energy Virginia is looking for a highly qualified individual to lead the development and implementation of Distributed Energy Resource(DER) projects, offerings, and services to support the advancement of the Company’s vision for a cleaner, more sustainable, and resilient.

This role has the dual responsibility for developing and managing programs and projects to support the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals. This role will also be in charge of developing budgets, operating plans and business cases to achieve the prescribed programmatic objectives.  
Programmatic Objectives and Responsibilities include:
•    Development of business plans in support of the Company’s initiatives related to the deployment of DER onto the distribution system, including an evaluation of all financial, legal, and operational risks and opportunities.
•    Development of a comprehensive portfolio of DER offerings that align with the needs of the customers and communities that the Company serves.
•    Development of strategic partnerships with technology and solution providers, internal stakeholders, external customers, government entities, and industry peers in support of the program.
•    Management of 3rd party consultants in the development of new programs or offerings.
•    Development of material and testimony to be utilized in regulatory filings to be presented to the Virginia State Corporation Commission for regulatory approval.
•    Development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to assess the overall performance of the program and its offerings.
•    Analyzing program opportunities and risks and producing accurate and timely reporting on program status and performance.
•    Development of communications and marketing plans to support customer outreach and promote awareness of the Company’s programs and their benefits.
•    Serve as spokesperson to ensure the Company’s messages are conveyed consistently and accurately. 
•    Development of Requests for Information and Requests for Proposal soliciting input from all applicable internal and external stakeholders
•    Support contract negotiations as well as the consistent compliance and execution of applicable contracts.
•    Understanding of relevant levers that enable nimble financial adjustments to ensure program budgets are consistently achieved. 
•    Establishing project milestones, monitoring costs, and documenting scope changes and cost overruns.
•    Additional objectives and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Significant energy industry or utility experience. (5+ years directly related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 7+ years directly related experience with an Associate's degree; or 9+ years directly related experience with a High School diploma/ GED)
  • Prior experience in vendor, team, and process management;
  • Strong leadership, organizational, resolution management, and team building skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to identify and assess risks and opportunities
