We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy is hiring an Economist / Senior Economist for our growing Data Center Practice team. 

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Economist:

Perform economic research and analysis of electric sales by customer class, location, and end-use. Maintain and update existing data sources as well as identify new relevant data sources. Perform data quality assessment, manipulation, visualization and reporting. Conduct customer segmentation studies, exploratory data analyses, and statistical model building to support historical and predictive analyses. Assist in sales and revenue budget development and variance reporting. Assist in regulatory support matters.

Specific duties of role:
•    Perform economic analysis, load research and forecasting. 
•    Maintain and enhance complex economic models which provide essential business information such as historical and predictive analysis of data center demand & energy.  
•    Maintain, enhance, and develop analytic tools, data processes and methods to analyze and present load research and forecast results. 
•    Support budget development and variance reporting.  
•    Provide full support of regulatory matters related to the load forecast and Integrated Resource Plan.
•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

 

Senior Economist:
•    Perform economic analysis, load research and forecasting.  
•    Maintain and enhance complex economic models which provide essential business information such as historical and predictive analysis of data center demand.  
•    Maintain, enhance, and develop analytic tools, data processes and methods to analyze and present load research and forecast results.  
•    Support sales and revenue budget development and variance reporting.  
•    Provide full support of regulatory matters related to the load forecast.
•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

 

Economist:  3+ years of directly related experience.
•    Knowledge of concepts and applications of statistical analysis or econometrics, and economics or demography.
•    Proficiency in use of at least one major statistical analysis software platform such as R, SAS, or MetrixND.
•    Use of the SQL query language and relational databases.
•    Knowledge of Power BI queries.
•    Strong Microsoft EXCEL skills.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills.
•    Analytical and mathematical aptitude.

 

Senior Economist
•    5+ years of directly related experience.
•    Full knowledge of concepts and applications of statistical analysis or econometrics, and economics or demography.
•    Proficiency in the use of one or more major statistical  analysis software platforms such as R, SAS, or MetrixND.
•    Use of the SQL query language and relational databases.
•    Knowledge of Power BI queries.
•    Strong Microsoft EXCEL skills.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills.
•    Analytical and mathematical aptitude.

Education Requirements

Education Minimum Requirements
•    Bachelor preferred in Economics (206) or Mathematics (481)

Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
•    Bachelor (Economist)
•    Bachelor or Masters (Senior Economist)
•    Preferred Discipline(s): Economics, Mathematics, Statistics

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
