We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Designs and reviews manual and electronic detailed drawings, such as civil, structural, architectural, and mechanical design change packages, layout drawings, and the most complex construction packages. This position acts as a technical expert for the design section and coordinates and directs the work of other Designers. This is not part of a job series.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 5-6+ years of directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering design principles within the power industry.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, related codes, and standards.
  • Knowledge of company design and operating standards.
  • Abilities: To maintain and update power generation station design and facility drawings and documents, to plan and schedule work independently, to lead and teach drafters, to size and design structural steel members and reinforced concrete components, to complete designs for large and/or complex systems, to develop new applications within the MicroStation/AutoCAD system.
  • Expert level MicroStation, AutoCAD, ProjectWise, Excel software skills. Strong math skills including geometry and trigonometry required to perform complex calculations.
  • Strong ability to use field measurement equipment such as Survey Level, Auto Level, Total Station, Lazer Scanner, and Hand Measurement Devises.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

Working experience in the following:

  • Multi-discipline civil/structural/mechanical design support for the Power Generation Business Unit.
  • Creation of architectural/civil/structural and mechanical design packages in support of various power station engineering projects
  • Review of third-party consultant deliverables including design packages and documents.
  • Preparation and review of structural/civil drawing standards for Power Generation Engineering department
  • Develop topographical and plan and profile drawings from surveying notes/data.
  • Site investigations and field measurement using industry standard equipment.
  • Construction supervision, support, and quality control as required.
  • Fossil, Hydro, Solar, and Wind power generation station industry layout and design.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate

Preferred Discipline(s): Drafting and Design, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drawing
