We offer a hybrid work schedule (one week in the office, one week of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

A Project Manager is needed to lead the Pre-construction Team for Dominion Energy utility-scale Solar projects. The Solar Project Construction department is responsible for managing solar projects from development and design through procurement, permitting, construction, and closeout. The Pre-construction Team manages projects from EPC contract award through turnover to active construction.  Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of project managers, engineers, and permitting specialists.
  • Managing multiple large projects or portfolio of projects, with total budget exceeding $500 million, involving new solar generation plants.
  • Tracking and documenting progress of each project in the portfolio.
  • Organizing the team assignments.
  • Ensuring alignment of project scope, objectives, budget, and schedule with stakeholder expectations and organizational goals.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
  • Overseeing the development, design, and permitting of the projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement and innovation in project management processes and practices.
  • Regularly reporting the project's progress, performance, any problems, and potential risks to the Manager or Director.

 

The role may have Non-Dominion Energy Workers (NDEWs) report to them.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 7 - 8+ years of progressive experience in project management principles, methodologies, tools and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of the electric utility industry (power generation, transmission, and distribution), and ability to apply relevant knowledge to solve complex project problems and issues.
  • Exceptional leadership, motivation, and empowerment skills, with a track record of delivering high-performance and quality outcomes in various project sizes, scopes, and complexities.
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills, with experience in working with cross-functional and multidisciplinary project teams and internal and external stakeholders at different levels.
  • Proficient in managing changes, risks, and uncertainties, and communicating effectively and persuasively with diverse audiences, using appropriate project management tools and software.
  • Adaptable to changing project requirements, priorities, and environments, and able to leverage agile and flexible approaches, conduct project reviews, audits, and evaluations, and implement lessons learned and best practices.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project management, budgeting, scheduling, and risk analysis.
  • Experience in local permitting (Land Disturbance, Construction General, etc.) and regulations.
  • Experience in contracts administration, including negotiating with suppliers, evaluating and processing change orders, and reviewing and processing legal notices.
  • Knowledge of solar power generation, transmission, distribution, and energy markets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelors

Disciplines preferred: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degrees that are applicable to Project Construction in utilities.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

GWO is required for positions required to support Offshore Wind        

Preferred: PE, PMP, PMI-CP
