We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy is installing 200MW of battery storage capacity per year, with plans to grow. The Battery Project Construction group manages the execution of battery storage projects from 50MW to 150+MW through Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) contracts. The group is organized into several teams; Project Development, Project Execution, Technology, and SCADA. The Project Development team bids, negotiates, and executes the EPC and Battery Supply contracts. The Development team also works closely with Dominion Business Development to scope and diligence potential battery storage projects. The Project Execution teams manage the EPC contracts, from execution, through design, permitting, construction, commissioning, commercial operation, and punchlist completion. Our Execution teams work on-site during the construction through punchlist completion phases. The Technology and SCADA teams provide SME support to the Project Development and Execution teams for their respective knowledge areas. Multiple Engineers are needed and may be assigned to any of the four teams.

  • Supporting the project management team by managing assigned technical portions of the project.
  • Coordination with internal stakeholders including Site Owner’s Representatives, Operations, Controls, Business Development, Tax, Real Estate, Environmental, Safety, and Supply Chain.
  • Coordination with external stakeholders, including counterparts in the EPC’s organization, battery suppliers, permitting agencies, and Owners Engineers.
  • Participating in status update meetings with EPC contractors and battery suppliers.
  • Overseeing and monitoring construction progress, ensuring compliance with EPC contract and permitting requirements.
  • Managing project RFI log.
  • Overseeing plant commissioning processes and participating in punchlist/turnover walkdowns with Renewable Operations.
  • Overseeing punch list completion, facilitating communication with operations, and reviewing contractor deliverables.
  • Reviewing EPC and battery supplier deliverables, including specifications, performance test reports, and design & as-built drawings for completeness and contract compliance.
  • Reviewing third party reports, usually environmental inspection and Owner Inspection reports, to monitor EPC performance, and providing recommendations to the EPC.
  • Reviewing and providing technical input on contract Change Orders, Contractor Notices, Milestone Completion Certificates, and other commercial documents.
  • Technology team – Owning equipment specifications, managing qualification of equipment suppliers to our specs, managing spec updates with internal stakeholder groups, and supporting project teams with technical needs related to battery technology. 
  • SCADA team – Owning controls and cyber security specifications, evaluating design and equipment compliance to our specs, managing spec updates with internal stakeholder groups, and supporting Project teams with technical needs related to controls systems and cyber security

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Construction Project Manager I: 0-2 years experience in leading and managing complex projects, or managing multi-functional teams in a matrix environment

Construction Project Manager II: 3+ years experience in leading and managing complex projects, or managing multi-functional teams in a matrix environment

Construction Project Manager III: 5+ years experience in leading and managing complex projects, or managing multi-functional teams in a matrix environment

  • Detailed technical knowledge of renewable power generation, large power plant systems/equipment/operations, power distribution/transmission systems, complex construction projects, power plant controls systems, and/or Virginia E&S/stormwater regulations
  • Technical skills, including the ability to read and prepare technical specifications and drawings. Some station and engineering experience preferred
  • Schedule and cost management experience
  • Strong communication and integration skills
  • Ability to build relationships and provide leadership in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions
  • Valid drivers license in order to operate a company vehicle
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, SAP products, Adobe products, Bluebeam, scheduling software

Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

  • Bachelor
  • Preferred disciplines: Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Computer Science
  • Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above
