Job Summary
Dominion Energy an exciting opportunity on our Supply Chain Transportation Management team as an Associate Supply Chain Transportation Specialist or Supply Chain Transportation Specialist, commensurate on selected candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. This position will be filled at our office at our Castlewood Warehouse location in Richmond, VA.
At Dominion Energy, as an Associate Supply Chain Transportation Specialist, you will perform the following:
- Dispatching drivers and material loads and providing efficient delivery routes across Dominion Energy's service territory.
- Arrange and coordinate transportation and shipping services for equipment and materials. Identifies potential transportation service providers.
- Communicates with field and project personnel to evaluate provider performance.
- Reviews and handles freight bills.
- Reviews and processes routine claims for lost or damaged materials.
- Assists field personnel in expediting or locating materials in transit.
- Assists with shipping requirements and issues.
- May solicit proposals, evaluate responses, negotiate, and/or administer routine service contracts.
As a Supply Chain Transportation Specialist, the primary focus of this position is:
- Arrange and coordinate transportation and shipping services for equipment and materials.
- Obtain approvals, and highway hauling permits, for excessive dimension or overweight equipment and materials.
- Identify potential transportation providers.
- Prepare and issue bid solicitations.
- Analyzes & evaluates responses for price, performance, capability, scheduling, compliance with order terms, and consistency with sourcing strategy.
- Negotiate best value contracts with providers.
- Manage resulting agreements for price, compliance, and other factors.
- Prepare and negotiate tariff agreements. Analyzes transportation practices and procedures.
- Develop and implement programs and processes for improved freight services and service processing.
- Identify and implement cost improvements for transportation services.
- Prepare reports, and recommends alternative solutions.
- Communicate with field and project personnel, to evaluate compliance with purchase contracts.
- Resolve service issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Associate Supply Chain Transportation Specialist: 0-2 years related experience. Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:
- Ability to multi-task.
- Previous dispatch experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of freight claim law procedures.
- General knowledge of procurement practices, procedures, and policies.
- General knowledge of business and contract law.
- General knowledge material and service delivery fulfillment process.
- Hazmat DOT knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate to all levels (individual contributors to management).
- Effective influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Value, cost analysis, and general analytical skills.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to customer needs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use sound business judgment.
Supply Chain Transportation Specialist: 3+ years of related experience. Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:
- Previous dispatch experience is required.
- General knowledge of business and transportation contracts.
- General knowledge of procurement practices, procedures, and policies.
- Knowledge of MRP, ERP, and purchasing logistics systems and processes.
- Hazmat DOT knowledge.
- Experience with SAP, preferred.
- Good verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- Effective influencing, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Value, cost analysis, and general analytical skills.
- Project management skills.
- Forecasting and trend analysis skills.
- Ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to customer needs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use sound business judgment.
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more of experience will be rounded up to one year.)
