Associate Materials Specialist/Materials Specialist

Job Summary

This position that will be filled as either an Associate Materials Specialist or Materials Specialist, commensurate with selected candidates' experience, skills and abilities.

Associate Materials Specialist

The Associate Materials Specialist evaluates and processes material and service requests and documentation, to ensure correct purchases and timely deliveries. Evaluates material return report for request cancellations. Assists in resolving supply chain issues. Assists in developing a supplier and service network, to ensure supply sources through accumulation of product and service data. Conducts pre-bid, pre-award, and post-award meetings with suppliers and customer groups. Analyzes inventory and surplus or obsolete materials, and takes action to minimize stocking levels. Maintains standards database and other systems to track inventory. Prepares management reports. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Materials Specialist

The Materials Specialist assists in providing materials management support for delivery operations. Evaluates and processes material requisitions and reservations, to ensure material and required documentation are available when needed. Analyzes material usage patterns for planned and stocked items, to ensure cost effective and adequate materials are available in a timely manner. Assists in resolving supply chain issues. Assists in planning and implementation of sourcing initiatives. Develops supplier and service network. Analyzes surplus and obsolete materials, and acts to minimize stocking levels. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Materials Specialist

Basic Qualifications:

  • 0 -2 years related work experience.
     

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Basic knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Basic knowledge of client groups, commodities, and specialties.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of nuclear plant equipment and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory analysis techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse layout.
  • Working knowledge of supplier relations, priority management, and tactical planning.
  • Good oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic forecasting and trend analysis skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Value and cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, and bend ,to perform walkdowns and to search for materials.
  • Good color vision to identify materials.
  • Good hearing for telephone communications.
  • SAP skills are preferred but not required.
     


Materials Specialist

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years related work experience. (Note:  A Master's degree will count as one year of experience.  A partial year of work experience of 6 months or greater will count as a year towards the qualifications).
     

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of client groups, commodities, and specialties.
  • Knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of inventory analysis techniques.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • SAP skills are highly preferred but not required.
  • Experience with other analytical software (BW, Cognos, etc.) is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic forecasting and trend analysis skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Value and cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Organizational skills.
