Job Summary

This role performs insider threat analysis and investigative risk work, working closely with more experienced co-workers, the Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC), Threat Response and Analysis Center, and other related Insider Threat Program groups, focused on the monitoring, analysis, and investigation of potential and actual insider threats and activities, that could harm the company’s physical assets, electronic assets or personnel.

 

Provides integrated counterintelligence analytic expertise to assess and identify potential threats. Collects, reviews, interprets, correlates, and analyzes computer system user activity, physical access, behavioral indicators, and other related data to identify behavior potentially indicative of an insider threat. Implements analytic strategies for identifying potential indicators of insider threat activity. Collaborates with insider threat detection tool engineers and behavior modelers to prioritize and improve lead identification based on analysis of results from available data streams. Identifies, analyzes, and works with appropriate teams to determine root cause and mitigate events of insider threat significance.

 

Cultivates and maintains productive working relationships as well as assisting security, counterintelligence, Intelligence Community members and law enforcement entities as appropriate in support of formal investigations and/or inquiries to resolve insider threat related matters as well as to enhance the company’s Insider Threat program. Collects data, analyzes results, and prepares reports relating to project/program objectives. Consults with subject matter experts and business representatives, as needed, to provide input on alleged insider threat analyses and recommendations, the establishment of policies associated with the insider threat program, and to foster awareness of the insider threat program. Works in a team environment to identify insider threats, improve processes and company’s overall security posture.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Insider Threat Analyst

  • Must possess a minimum of 0-2 years of work experience in cybersecurity, counterintelligence, threat intelligence or a cyber-risk related role demonstrating a working knowledge in the identification, gathering and analysis of information, threats, etc. to investigate and mitigate security risks; Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. A Masters Degree can count as one year experience.

 

Insider Threat Analyst

  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience in cyber security, counterintelligence, threat intelligence or a cyber-risk related role demonstrating a working knowledge in the identification, gathering and analysis of information, threats, etc. to investigate and mitigate security risks; Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. A Masters Degree can count as one year experience. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Counterintelligence, Law Enforcement, Security, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Ethics, and Human Resource roles and responsibilities in Insider Threat programs;
  • Knowledge of National Insider Threat Policy and Guidance;
  • Working knowledge of insider threat programs and processes;
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem solving skills, to include time management, project coordination, and project management, with a questioning attitude;
  • Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communications, with good presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated competency in developing effective solutions to business problems, with the ability to understand customer’s business needs, analyze problems and make decisions;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy;
  • Ability to use cyber analysis tools and to conduct multi-source intelligence analysis;
  • Experience in security aspects of multiple platforms, software, operating systems, communications, and network protocols strongly desired;
  • Prefer education and training in cyber security, insider threat, and counterintelligence support.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
Disciplines: Preferred: Computer Science; Criminal Justice; Engineering; Homeland Security; Information Systems; Information Systems Security
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
