We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
An Associate Engineer/Engineer, in Distribution Grid Resiliency, is part of a modeling and analysis team. The individual will provide technical support for several programs that fall under the company’s Grid Transformation Plan.
This role will primarily support the company’s Voltage Optimization initiative, a part of the Grid Transformation Plan. Responsible for analyzing customer voltages using AMI voltage readings, the team identifies both secondary and primary voltage projects to improve voltage levels across the system. The team is responsible for programming and monitoring of DVI’s EDGE software to realize energy savings. The engineer will also support construction & operations, the Regional Operating Center, Grid Planning and other groups in distribution for AMI voltage and data needs. The team utilizes engineering concepts, modeling software and data analysis to perform system studies and analyses to develop project proposals to improve grid reliability and resiliency.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Excel, PowerBI, and/or SQL preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Electric Distribution principles preferred
Under direction of supervisor or work leader, perform routine assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, practices and the nature of engineering systems, equipment, etc. and to develop the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
The candidate preferably should have an electrical engineering background; with exposure to electric power systems concepts. Other engineering backgrounds may be considered if presented in combination with a strong electric power background. The candidate should possess strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices that will enable the successful candidate to progress in an engineering career series.

- Maintain and manage data for distribution grid load and DER forecasting
- Power system modeling: load flow and voltage analysis, predictive reliability analysis, and time series simulations
- Analyze multiple infrastructure interdependencies related to thermal, voltage and reliability criteria
- Perform/support evaluation, design, engineering, and support activities related to traditional utility solutions and non-wires alternatives
- Participate in trade and industry organizations and benchmarking activities
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Associate Engineer – 0–2+ years of relevant engineering experience (Note: Upcoming engineering degree graduates with a projected graduation date no later than June 2026, who also meet the engineering criteria, will be considered)
Engineer – 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory; Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing); Effective decision making skills; Computer skills and application of software programs; Analytical and abstract thinking skills; Problem solving skills; Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems; Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices; Ability to develop effective planning, project and organization skills; Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks; Ability to work within a team environment.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Note: Dominion Energy minimum experience and education requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.
For Nuclear employees, this ANSI standard must be met, all of which is met or exceeded in the Engineer series job summaries with the exception of the Nuclear Power experience requirement of at least 1 year:
ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 Education requirements: Baccalaureate or associate degree in engineering or related science. Minimum experience for the position: Related experience which shall include 2 years; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 year.
Note: Associate Engineer is documented as a trainee.
