Asset Management Strategic Advisor (Investments)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, the Strategic Advisor (SA) will be a key member of the Asset Management Group (AMG), which is responsible for the investment-related activities of over $20 billion in assets, including those of DB Plans, DC Plans, 401 (h) plans, Nuclear Decommissioning Trusts, VEBA and Rabbi trusts. The SA will collaborate on all aspects of portfolio management including the development of strategic asset allocations, the sourcing, selecting and monitoring of investment managers for the portfolio, performing investment research, conducting portfolio and performance analysis and presenting its findings to the Asset Management Committee (AMC).  The SA will function as a “generalist” and will also be responsible for training and mentoring other investment professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve in a key leadership role in all aspects of the investment process
  • Source and maintain a pipeline of investment opportunities and funds
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective opportunities including analysis of investment strategy, process, organization, portfolio positions and performance, negotiation of legal documents and fees
  • Monitor performance, portfolio positions, current events and organizational changes of the Trusts’ existing fund managers and complete analytical reviews to evaluate the relative performance of each fund manager on a regular basis
  • Prepare and present recommendations regarding new investment opportunities or changes to the portfolio to the Director of Asset Management and the AMC
  • Take a leading role for asset/liability studies and make recommendations to the AMC regarding changes to investment policies and strategic asset allocations
  • Serve on the Limited Partner Advisory Committees for the Trusts’ private investments
  • Develop the recommendation of the Trusts’ EROPA
  • Work on ad hoc and special projects as needed
  • Interface with other groups throughout the Dominion Energy organization
  • Assume other responsibilities and explore new opportunities that arise with the evolving needs and aspirations of the AMG
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • 10 years of investment experience at a pension, endowment/foundation, fund-of-funds, or other LP platform or institutional direct investment firm and/or related experience
  • Considerable knowledge of investment processes and strategies, financial modeling, portfolio theory, statistical analysis, risk management, asset classes and global capital markets
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, IRS, SEC, FASB, and reporting requirements
  • Attention to detail and deadlines, ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem solving and project management skills
  • Ability to access and maintain a strong, well-established network of investment professionals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to articulate ideas, communicate tactfully and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Desire and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • A bottom-line orientation and ability to deal with uncertain and rapid change
  • Willing to travel (Position will require approximately 25% travel)
Education Requirements

Bachelor Required
Master and/or CFA stronger preferred

 

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
