We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

This highly visible role will lead technical accounting research and support for significant Dominion Energy projects and business transactions as well as corporate functions. Duties include the following:   
 

  • Serve as a key point of contact and provide leadership through functional advice, guidance, and expertise for various departments throughout the company, including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Business Development, Corporate and Segment Accounting, SEC Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Corporate Finance, and others. 
  • Lead special project teams and provide technical accounting support as a subject matter expert to cross-functional teams on various business transactions and complex accounting matters involving revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, long-lived assets, financing transactions, and regulatory accounting, among other topics. 
  • Research technical accounting matters and document the Company’s analysis, judgments and conclusions on complex transactions. 
  • Communicate complex accounting concepts to senior management in both accounting and non-accounting functions, as well as external auditors and standard-setting and/or regulatory organizations. 
  • Research, document, and coordinate implementation of new accounting standards. 
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing disclosures in SEC Filings (e.g., Forms 10-K, 10-Q, etc.). 
  • Independently and effectively interact with internal customers, as well as work with external auditors, on various accounting matters and projects. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

6+ years of accounting experience; or 5 years of public accounting experience.  Note:  A Master's degree will count as one year of experience.  A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience.
 

  • Excellent and effective communication (written and verbal) around complex accounting concepts to all levels within the organization and outside the organization, including peers, senior management, auditors, and standard-setting and/or regulatory organizations. 
  • Must be a self-starter who can problem-solve independently, provide solutions, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. 
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred; comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is a requirement. 
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks independently, including confidence in one’s own ability to develop interpretive conclusions, make recommendations, and assist/provide guidance to less experienced accountants. 
  • Customer-service focused with ability to contribute innovative ideas and process improvement suggestions and see those changes through to implementation. 
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.

Bachelor's Degree or higher level degree
