Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina is seeking a Customer Projects Designer I or II in the  Charleston Lighting department in Charleston, SC.  The Lighting Customer Projects Designer is responsible for design and coordination of small to medium size lighting projects, but may include larger projects.  The successful candidate will interact directly with internal and external customers including municipalities on projects or to resolve issues; prepare and complete work orders, prepare and execute 5 year contracts, create and modify technical drawings, plans, schedules and coordinate technical projects.  Selected candidate will use technical tools including computer hardware and software to create electronic drawings and calculations. Responsibilities will also include creating photometric designs using specialized lighting software (Visual).  Successful candidate will support all goals, functions and needs of the Lighting Department.

 

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.

• Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (below).

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Lighting Customer Project Designer I

  • 0 - 2 years directly related experience

Lighting Customer Project Designer II

  • 2 - 3+ years directly related experience

Both positions

  • Basic computers skills

  • Knowledge of electricity and distribution design is helpful

  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization skills

  • Project management; math and technical aptitude

  • Effectively interact with customers; teaming; detail oriented

  • Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job: walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing

  • Must be able to drive and operate a company vehicle with Safety as the #1 priority

  • Must be flexible to work after-hours, scheduled overtime and callout for emergency/ storm restoration as required.   The selected candidate must reside within or be willing to relocate within a 30-mile driving radius (or 40- minute drive) of the Electric Operations Building on Aviation Ave, North Charleston, SC.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

Associates degree from a technical college is a plus.

 

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Valid state driver's license with good driving history.
