Job Summary

Direct personnel in the monitoring and response to active alarms pertaining to renewable energy equipment and associated substation for both transmission and distribution connected facilities. Perform general leadership and administrative duties including, but not limited to, employee performance reviews and time management scheduling, human performance management, safety, procedures, and training.  Responsible for NERC related reporting and compliance and scheduling required testing for NERC qualified facilities.  Oversee and approve the transition of new facilities managed by the Renewable Operations Analyst from Third Party O&M and direct transfer sites from the EPC and construction teams.  Manage all aspects of the integration into GMS (Generation Management System) to include Alarms and Controls validation testing for substation and generation owned equipment.

Monitors and updates the Market Operations Center with derates and outage information pertaining to regulated renewable generation facilities.  Coordinates switching with the Transmission system operations center in coordination with Field Technicians. 

Maintenance:

Provide leadership in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and communication protocols for Renewable Operations Analyst interacting with the Market Operations Center, GMS Modeling Team, Renewable Field Technicians, PG I&C Engineers, Substation engineers, and the Renewable Operations support teams. 

Operations:

Support production and Field Technician’s at a renewable energy generating facility to provide reliable, efficient, and economical electric service to our customers, in a safe and responsible manner with the main goal to maximize production and provide efficient solutions to return equipment to service in a reliable and safe manner.  Oversee SAP entry notifications for faulted or derated equipment.  Ensure facilities operate within company, local, state, and federal energy and environmental policies, regulations, and procedures.  Coordinate operations activities with other members of the Renewable Energy Operations group.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

7-11 years directly related work experience with a bachelor's degree or its equivalency in years of experience.

Knowledge of electrical facility operations (including gas, generation, distribution, and transmission), typically gained through considerable related work experience.

Thorough understanding of company safety policies/programs, and environmental and regulatory policies/requirements with ability to meet NERC qualifications.

Full knowledge of switching of transmission and distribution equipment, substation switching, energization and de-energization procedures and company standards and policies

Basic knowledge and applications of mathematics, physics, and computer operations.

Basic knowledge of renewable energy operations with the conceptual understanding of how equipment in a substation and a generating facility function. 

Skills:  leadership; problem-solving; negotiating; effective communications.

Ability to manage rotating shift work schedules, process information quickly and make sound operational decisions, read functional one-line diagrams, and deal with stressful situations in a fast paced environment.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Engineering, Technical
