We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
Dominion Energy is seeking a highly motivated Performance Engineer to join the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Operations and Maintenance team. This role is critical in driving proactive plant performance improvements, implementing data-driven methodologies, and supporting long-term asset operation. This role is the top progression level position in the Engineer series. Includes senior to technical expert engineers, able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards. At higher levels of proficiency within this classification, incumbents are expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed. May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields. May serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and report on key operations metrics such as availability to identify improvement opportunities
- Data and Analytics: Lead data and analytics strategies to optimize plant performance, improve asset reliability, and reduce unplanned outages
- Project Management: Lead initiation, planning, and execution of major overhauls or improvement initiatives
- Design Reviews: Participate in the design and engineering of new systems to ensure reliability principles are incorporated into the development process
- Failure Analysis: Perform in-depth root cause analysis on failures and lead cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventative actions
- Spare Parts Analysis: Perform critical spare parts assessments to determine optimal inventory levels
- Proactive Risk Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Continuous Improvement: Drive identification and execution of continuous improvement initiatives
- Troubleshooting: Support troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing on-site equipment issues, analyzing historical operational data, and documenting failure modes
- Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams on reliability principles and best practices
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Engineer: 2+ years engineering experience
Senior Engineer: 5+ years engineering experience
Staff Engineer: 8+ years engineering experience
Full knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts and fundamentals; Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines; Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead; Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing); Experience with power plant performance simulation and modeling; Experience with CMMS (e.g. SAP, Maximo, etc.); Strong personal computer skills; Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems; Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices; In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.); Equally effective working independently or in team environment; Proven decision making skills; Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks; Strong planning, organizational and project management skills; Ability to climb to heights up to 250 feet or greater and work in confined spaces; Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 lbs or less as required by safety regulations; Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
