Job Summary

The position requires to travel to multiple locations

Chemist II: Performs sampling, analysis and reporting and recording of water, fuel, chemical, or environmental chemistry samples. Coordinates with operations, field and department staff to discuss implications of results of analysis. Ensures quality and compliance of laboratory and sampling procedures, and recommends operating guidelines to improve production quality. Consults with other departments and provides advice on chemistry problems. Analyzes samples, monitors chemical quality of operating systems and cycles, fuel, wastes, etc., and/or conducts study audits with results and recommendations to management. Maintains quality control assurance program for lab methods, ensures equipment calibration, and verifies documentation. Performs studies. and prepares reports and recommendations, for design or process changes. Coordinates with company and station personnel, providing technical support and analysis, to assist in plant equipment maintenance, or to improve company operations. Develops laboratory analysis procedures for training other employees. Reviews data and reports, provides analyses and maintains computer information accuracy. Orders and tracks all lab chemicals and equipment. May perform maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting of advanced analytical instrumentation and/or train other staff. Perform other duties as requested or assigned

 

Chemist III: Provides technical and analytical support, to power station or company personnel, for water, fuel, chemical and environmental samples. Evaluates new methods, techniques, and instrumentation in the laboratory. Reviews and interprets chemistry data and instrumentation results. Provides evaluations and trends on corrosion and other chemistry data. Provides analysis, reviews, sampling, and/or trending of data on environmental and operational conditions. Develops programs to evaluate station or company chemistry, identify problems, and meet regulatory requirements. Performs maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting for advanced analytical instrumentation and lab equipment. Provides training and technical information to lower level staff. Conducts special projects, studies, or audits to support lab supervision. Orders supplies and equipment for laboratory. Maintains chemistry databases and information. Coordinates lab quality control program and regulatory inspections. May prepare daily reports to management, including graphs of daily chemistry performance. Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Chemist II include the following:

  • 2 years or more relevant experience required. 
  • Full knowledge of analytical chemistry, laboratory concepts, and laboratory techniques.
  • Full knowledge of environmental regulations. Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Basic knowledge of company operations.
  • Analytical and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Laboratory skills.

Chemist III include the following:

  • In-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry, laboratory concepts, and laboratory techniques.
  • Full knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer applications.
  • Basic knowledge of company operations.
  • Analytical and deductive reasoning skills.

  • Reporting and technical writing skills.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment or process problems.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
