Job Summary

South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G) is seeking an Engineer for the Myrtle Beach Gas Operations office. This position is responsible for examining, planning and inspecting the entire pipeline system and the facilities throughout the Myrtle Beach area. The position will also coordinate and design activities involved in operation, installation, repair and maintenance for the products (pipe, valves, etc.) which make up the natural gas system.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Designing projects or parts of projects.
  • Directing preparation of drawings.
  • Writing specifications, requisition materials and work orders.
  • Construction project management.
  • Perform tests and inspections of material, equipment, and/or processes.
  • Provide engineering and project management support for all natural gas system operations and construction activities.
  • Manage relationships between the Company and contract labor.
  • Ensure regulatory permitting is satisfied in all operations and construction activities requiring such permitting.
  • Perform technical computations and studies, as required, for all work order designs (new business, SCDOT, system improvements, M&R stations, etc.)
  • Ensure that all operations/compliance issues related to DOT 192 and PSC guidelines are satisfied specifically in the areas of cathodic protection, measurement, and engineering standards.
  • Support the technical needs of commercial sales activities with the technical staff of the Engineering Department.
  • Coordinate new products and services through working with suppliers and vendors.
  • Provids leadership, supervision/management and development of employees within the Engineering Department.

Candidates will be considered for employment based on the following criteria:

  • Engineer III - Minimum of 4 years engineering experience, with registration as a FE
  • Engineer IV – Minimum of 6 years engineering experience, with registration as a PE

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited Engineering Program from a recognized college or university
