Job Summary

This role is responsible for the planning of Power Generation's outage management process at assigned facilities, applying comprehensive knowledge and understanding of defined roles and key measures to plan, coordinate, analyze, and report on outages in a manner which effectively utilizes staffing, materials, and equipment to ensure optimum availability, compliance with regulatory and company policies, productivity, and safe operating performance.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Work closely with the Power Generation Outage Manager to develop the outage plan, ensuring required actions are completed on time and SAP Orders are up-to-date.
•    Develop outage work scopes and plans; coordinate contractor outage activities.
•    Review compliance with preventative maintenance schedules.
•    Plan job steps for work execution in SAP and utilize applicable permits in the planning process.
•    Use correct account coding and track purchase requisitions and deliveries as needed.
•    Ensure maintenance technical information and manuals are updated and available.
•    Apply knowledge of resource availability to foster efficiency and safety during outages.
•    Conduct job walk-downs prior to schedule development.
•    Support Work Orders/Work Notifications (WO/WN) closeout and documentation.
•    Verify availability of parts and tools for emergent requests.

Safety & Compliance:
Accountable for meeting plant safety goals and other requirements including: Training, Obtaining work permits, Conducting critical inspections, Job observations, Housekeeping, and Reporting hazards or other issues

Meetings & Reporting:
•    Conduct daily pre/post-outage meetings.
•    Prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and end-of-outage reports.

Procurement & Scheduling:
•    Make recommendations and procure equipment, materials, and services per plant specifications and procedures.
•    Manage maintenance material, receiving, and staging for outages.
•    Provide input into the development of detailed schedules for outages using scheduling software.
•    Assist in developing 5-year outage plans and tracking goals during outages.
•    Assist in preparing annual budgets and spending forecasts.

Process & Coordination:
•    Use the Management of Change Process to develop, document, and implement plant Process Safety Management (PSM) changes.
•    Trend critical path activities.
•    Coordinate work and resources with various station groups.
•    Maintain proper foreign material exclusion (FME).
•    Develop recommendations to improve outage schedules and Outage Planning Standards.
•    Meet with craftsmen and supervisors as needed to ensure requirements and work needs are addressed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 5-6+ years previous maintenance or operations experience. 
  • Working knowledge of the outage planning process, the planning and scheduling of Outage SAP orders and outage standards and understanding of the outage management process.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, ability to develop environmental analysis forms and interface with the Station's Environmental Compliance Coordinator (ECC) to address concerns and risks
  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM) procedures and procurement process.
  • Knowledge of company software and systems used for scheduling outages.
  • Knowledge of SAP and SAP project management tools desired.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Skilled in leading and fostering cooperation without formal authority.
  • Detail oriented; excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in the utilization of MS Office Suite, cost tracking, planning backlog and work orders.
  • Ability to create Preventative Maintenance requests for equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate P&ID's, pipe and equipment specifications.
  • Ability to analyze events to develop recommendations and methods for improvement.
  • Previous power plant experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in outage planning and /or scheduling preferred.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
