Job Summary

Dominion Energy - North Anna is looking for an Electrical Engineering intern for Summer 2019 to work in their Nuclear Electrical Design and Testing Engineering Group.  The candidate will work on site and provide design support to the station developing design change documentation for plant modifications and assist in understanding, evaluation, and maintaining the existing Design Configuration of North Anna Power Plant, Units #1 & #2.  The candidate will work in a broad range of Electrical Power issues both on the component and system level.  Candidates will be expected to gain familiarity with Nuclear Power Plant design, including the Electrical Distribution System and or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station.

Job Duties will include:

  • Work on electrical design change projects for North Anna Power Station
  • Support the Design Electrical and Testing staff with projects that they are working on.
  • Support Test Engineers with in-plant testing of modified components.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Working knowledge of engineering theories and principles. 
  • Ability to think analytically and solve engineering problems. 
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices. 
  • Ability to process information and effectively manage multiple tasks. 
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing). 
  • Strong personal computer skills. 
  • Equally effective working independently or in team environment. 
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation
  • Able to work as team player and work with various groups in the station to provide a user friendly product.
  • Willing to get into the field and perform hands on evaluation of plant modifications

Education Requirements

  • Must have an anticipated graduation date of spring 2022.
  • Must be a student attending an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering program at a four year college or university. 
  • Must have a 2.5 minimum GPA., 3.0 GPA or higher preferred.
