Job Summary

The Engineering Coordination team at North Anna Power Station plays an essential role in orchestrating complex projects that touch virtually every operational aspect of the power plant.  The team is actively looking to hire for an Engineer, Senior Engineer, Engineering Technical Specialist II, or Engineering Technical Specialist III.  The single open position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Functionally, the "Online Coordinator" will run point in scheduling and tracking a myriad of work projects that can span weeks or months in duration.  Further, they lead communications with various stakeholder including the executive leadership team at North Anna. More specifically, the Coordinator will:

  • Work with the engineering department as it relates to scheduling, long-range planning, PMs, work order planning, work prioritization, and attendance/advocacy at work planning meetings.
  • Schedule and coordinate major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.
  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered and develop engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards
  • Provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

To be qualified for the Online Coordinator, one must meet the following minimum requirements:

 

Engineer:  B.S. Degree in Engineering and 2+ years of relevant engineering work experience

Senior Engineer: BS Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of relevant engineering experience

Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant engineering work experience.  

Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience. 

 

  • May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields.
  • The highly preferred candidate will have: 1) working knowledge of Primavera’s P-6 software as it relates to work scheduling; 2) Working knowledge of the PM process (PAM’s, RTE’s, JIT); 3) Familiarity with the Long Range Planning Process; 4) Familiarity with the work order planning process; 5) Ability to advocate Engineering priorities in the Station Work Management process (PHSC, PHWG, Station Alignment Meetings).

 

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience. A Master's Degree will count as one year toward the years of experience

 

Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals; Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position; Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;  Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;  Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.); Planning, organizational and project management skills;   Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills;   Effective decision making skills; Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);  Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;  Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices; Equally effective working independently or in a team environment;  Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Education Requirements

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:  For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:  

 

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or   

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or   

Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or   

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license
