Job Summary


North Anna Power Station is seeking an Administrative Assistant II or III to join its Engineering department in the Subsequent License Renewal group.

The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Administrative Assistant II

Under general supervision, this role provides clerical and administrative/secretarial support to management, and department or staff.

May serve in an Emergency Response Organization position.

Performs general office duties such as:

  • Answering and screening telephone calls, making appointments, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements.
  • Processing mail and faxes, composing correspondence.
  • Collecting, compiling and analyzing information and data. 
  • Providing information on inquiries.
  • Maintaining and updating office supplies.
  • Assisting in maintenance of department file.
  • Performing data entry and maintaining and updating department informational databases.
  • Provides general typing and word processing support.
  • Processing expense reports/invoices and provide budget tracking support.
  • Handling confidential records and information.
  • Using discretion in making decisions regarding planning, organizing and scheduling work.
  • Regularly uses computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and presentation software.
  • Performing other duties as required or assigned.


Administrative Assistant III

In addition to the job duties listed above, this role provides the highest level of clerical and administrative/secretarial support.

  • Performing higher level calculations and analyses.
  • Investigating questionable areas and making administrative decisions.
  • Exercising considerable discretion in performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Providing guidance and assistance to less experienced office support staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience


  • Administrative Assistant II requires three (3) years of administrative experience
  • Administrative Assistant III requires five (5) years of administrative experience 

(A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.)

  • Ability to collect, compile and analyze information and data
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees
  • Proficient skills operating computerized and standard office equipment
  • Proficient in use of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and presentation software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to understand company policies and procedures
  • High level of initiative and ability to exercise judgment and discretion
  • Strong planning and organizing skills

High School diploma or GED

Test Description

This job requires recommended test results from CEB/SHL Online Clerical Assessments (Proofreading, Classifying & Coding, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint) administered on-line during the pre-employment process. The Classifying and Coding test measures the candidate's ability to classify and code items by categories. You will have 4 minutes to answer 70 questions. The Proofreading assessment measures the candidate's ability to read for errors involving spelling, punctuation, and grammar and word choice. It also measures the candidate's ability to correct those errors. You will have 6 minutes to answer 60 questions. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint - You will be asked to perform in a simulated environment that resembles the actual application. You will have 25 minutes to complete 20 questions.
