Job Summary

One position available which can be filled as a Field Operator I - WEX or a Field Operator II - WEX.  This position will be located in our Church Buttes field in Lyman, WY. 

 

  • Ensures proper operation and maintenance of all equipment related to the production and transportation of oil and gas in an assigned area by performing the appropriate repairs to the equipment as needed.
  • Operates liquid transfer facilities, H2S processing plants, compressor, and generator plants. Monitor pressures, temperatures, flows, and liquid levels.
  • Assures pipelines and facilities are protected from damage from outside forces.
  • Conducts technical and safety training for operations personnel.
  • Maintains accurate field records and reports on all equipment.
  • Schedules, coordinates, notifies, and performs required measurement calibrations.
  • Analyzes and interprets data and takes and/or recommends appropriate actions relative to job duties. Installs, maintains, and/or operates equipment such as compressors, dehydrators, separators, heaters, wellheads, tankage, product loading, pressure regulation, odorization and related equipment. Keeps accurate records and reports on all the equipment.
  • Complies with and understands all safety plans, procedures, and requirements.
  • Complies with and understands BLM, EPA, and DOT requirements concerning the production of oil and gas.
  • Complies with all codes, standards, and permits that pertains to the operation and maintenance of systems and facilities.
  • As required, participates in internal process improvement and problem solving teams, such as area planning teams.
  • Communicates with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and outside company personnel about how to best cover operational responsibilities.
  • Develops knowledge in an additional discipline such as mechanical, automation, construction, gas processing, electronic measurement and chromatography.
  • When working an On-Call schedule, must be able to report to the Church Buttes/Lyman, WY facility within 60 minutes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Field Operator I- 0-2 years of related experience.

Field Operator II- At least 3 years related experience.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understands and uses pneumatic controllers, programmable logic controllers, flow measurement, gas sampling, and chromatography equipment.
  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and use of self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Ability to safely operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle in on and off-road conditions
  • Knowledge of basic FERC regulations and necessary requirements.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer and related software that meet department needs.
  • Knowledge of gas compression, water and oil tanks, natural gas engines and compressors, plant computer, and control equipment.
  • Knowledge of company standard practices, emergency plan, operating inspection, maintenance plan, and all safety requirements.
  • Skill in the use of hand and maintenance tools.
  • Skill in relating interpersonally. Basic math skills.
  • Ability to see objects at close range and to determine the distance and relationship between objects.
  • Ability to interact with others, to communicate clear instructions, and evaluate results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle emergencies and respond to stressful situations which may include; changing flat tires, chaining up vehicle, operating jack, performing minor maintenance, and operating a two-way radio.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to distinguish the nature of sounds to hear equipment warning signals.
  • Ability to smell to detect burning materials, natural gas, hazardous substances such as ammonia and solvents and toxic substances found in hazardous wastes.
  • Ability to hear radio messages in the truck and the horn when away from the truck.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work. Ability to distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is working correctly and to hear gas leaks. Ability to climb stairs, up to 20, and ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.; move items weighing up to 500 lbs. with equipment assistance.

Education Requirements

Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):

High School Diploma or GED

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Other Working Conditions

  • Will be required to work on call, overtime, rotating shifts, overtime weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to work 4/10 hour day work week or 12 hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Undergoes random drug and/or alcohol testing subject to DOT and company requirements.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of physically strenuous manual labor tasks which may include: using a shovel, climbing ladders and earthen inclines, accessing equipment above floor level, lifting, moving and carrying heavy objects (up to 100 lbs) such as large sacks of concrete mix, pavement breakers, large tools and work equipment, compressor parts, high pressure cylinders, etc.
  • Extensive walking,
  • Will undergo annual audiometric testing.
