Consulting Engineer Electrical (BHE GT&S)

Job Summary

  • Provides multi-discipline engineering teams with strong technical and project leadership within a discipline, engineering section or for major engineering projects.
  • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge and technical skills to solve complex engineering problems, or to plan and coordinate larger scale engineering projects or varied assignments requiring diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Provides expert technical consultation and assessment on engineering problems and projects to engineering personnel, operations and maintenance group within LNG Operations.
  • Serves as a management consultant on complex engineering problems and issues.
  • Controls technical, financial and service commitments to internal or external customers.
  • May perform independent research to find innovative and cost effective engineering solutions to operational problems.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis identifying reliability and efficiency improvements in the Electrical Area.
  • Ability to work under stressful working environments.
  • Responsible of Cove Point Arc Flash Studies and ETAP models.
  • Subject Master Expert for electrical engineering for Cove Point Management of Change Process and Hazop Revalidation Studies.
  • Technical Authority for electrical drawings including one line diagrams, electrical hazardous classification areas, …
  • Owner of the entire facility relay settings.
  • Owner of the Fast Load Shedding Program.
  • Owner of the Power Generation Management System.
  • Requirement to mentoring less experiences team members across the entire facility (Technical Services, Maintenance and Operations teams)
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences  that are required for entry into this job include the following:
  • 7-8+ years of relevant engineering experience;
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering theories, principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related field;
  • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters;
  • Recognized expert by other engineers and management;
  • Provides expert technical consultation to other engineers and management;
  • Skilled in the use of advanced engineering techniques;
  • Strong planning and project management skills;
  • Strong technical and organizational leadership skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
  • In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);
  • Proven decision making skills;
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
  • Equally effective working independently or in team environment

 

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
