Job Summary

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. 

Responsible for collection of samples from primary and secondary plant system. Performs tests on samples to determine the presence and activity levels of radiation and various gases, acids, and metals to ensure proper chemistry is maintained to prevent corrosion of plant systems and technical specification violations. Collect water samples from various plant systems, including those in high radiation areas, for necessary analyses. Operate and maintain the on-line chemical monitoring system. Add chemicals to plant systems in order to maintain plant system integrity. Track and enter data analysis information into the mainframe computer. Maintain and calibrate data recording devices.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

An ability to collect samples and perform chemical analyses within the framework of the chemistry technician training program. Designation as Nuclear Chemistry Technician T2/T3 will be approved by Chemistry management, and will be based upon an individuals sustained, high level of performance, and the needs of the department.

Nuclear Chemistry Technician T 2 requires 3+ years of related chemistry experience, 

Nuclear Chemistry Technician T3 requires 5+ years of related chemistry experience. 

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3 and above, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Associate

Preferred Discipline(s):  Mathematics, Science

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Associates degree in Mathematics or Sciences preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required.

 

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must meet applicable location specific minimum education, experience and training requirements specified by the American National Standard Industrial (ANSI) for the qualification and training of nuclear.

Occasional overnight travel required and must be available to monitor and respond during off-hours to gas supply related LDC situations and needs.
