General Statement

Job Summary
This position reports to a Chemistry Supervisor and is responsible for the following::
- Monitoring and controlling system chemistry to verify compliance with system limits for various plant water systems.
- Performs various laboratory technician activities such as analysis, equipment calibrations, quality control checks and operates the Water Treatment Plant.
- Analytical and technical skills needed to review quantitative data, apply logic and reason and draw appropriate conclusions about findings.
- Must qualify as a HazMat responder and maintain required Environmental System Operator license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- The individual should have a minimum of three years chemistry job related work experience.
- The preferred candidate will have a minimum of three years chemistry job related work experience and/or possess a bachelor's degree in an ABET accredited degree program with a major in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
- The individual must be capable of obtaining South Carolina Environmental Systems Operators licenses (C Water, C Physical and Chemical Wastewater and Biological Waste Water) within two years.
- The candidate must be able to wear respiratory protection equipment, lift heavy objects up to fifty pounds and work shift work as necessary to perform job functions
Education Requirements
A diploma from a high school accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED, and at least one year of college level Chemistry or Biology courses or equivalent training is required.
