Job Summary

VC Summer Nuclear Station in Jenkinsville, SC is looking for a Mechanical Engineering intern for the summer of 2026 to support Maintenance Support Engineering group functions. Accepted candidate will work closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel in development of maintenance strategies and troubleshooting of mechanical components, including but not limited to pumps, valves, fans, and heat exchangers.  Accepted candidate will also support refuel outage planning activities for snubbers, motor operated valves and air operated valves (AOV). Examples of field work opportunities include internal inspections of mechanical components, heat exchanger thermal performance testing, exposure to vibration monitoring and air flow measurements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid engineering skills, commensurate with grade level.
  • Good communication skills, technical writing skills, and computer skills.
  • An inquisitive nature, an ability to follow written and verbal directions, and strong professional ethics.

Education Requirements

Must be a student studying Mechanical Engineering at an ABET accredited engineering program at a 4-year college or university

Must have a GPA of at least 3.0

Must have a graduation date of Fall 2027 and later
