Job Summary

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

The Fleet Technician maintains company vehicles by keeping them well-lubricated, fueled, and cleaned. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on automotive equipment, to also include bucket truck and derrick truck.  Assists in servicing automotive electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems.  Repairs and maintains construction equipment to include bucket trucks and derrick trucks.  Services automotive equipment by lubricating, changing oil, repairing tires, washing, and packing wheel bearings.  Assists in mounting vehicle bodies, tool boxes, welding equipment, generators, and compressors. Maintains garage in clean and orderly condition. 

 

The Senior Fleet Technician performs complex repairs on vehicle fleet, motorized construction, and work equipment, including automotive electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems. Trains and directs less-skilled Fleet Technicians.  Mounts vehicle bodies, toolboxes, welding equipment, generators, and compressors.  Maintains garage facilities and construction equipment. 

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Fleet Technician

  • 2 years’ experience in automotive maintenance and repair, or one year trade school and one year experience, or equivalent combination. 
  • Knowledge of automotive and construction equipment operation and maintenance. 
  • Knowledge of basic math. 
  • Skill diagnosing and repairing automotive and construction equipment.  
  • Skill using hand and power tools, such as hoists, saws, wrenches, and hammers.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.  
  • Ability to distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is running correctly.  
  • Ability to respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, and operating a two-way radio.  
  • May need to possess, or acquire within a reasonable timeframe, a commercial driver's license. 
  • May require travel in on- and off-road conditions. 


Senior Fleet technician

  • 5 years’ experience as a Fleet Technician or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of automotive, motorized construction, and work equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Skill in using repair equipment and tools, such as welders, torque wrenches, drills, grinders, and power tools.
  • Skill in using hand and power tools, such as hoists, saws, wrenches, and hammers.
  • Ability to distinguish nature of sounds, to determine if a motor or engine is performing correctly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, and operating a two-way radio.

 

Prefer applicant to reside within a 30-minute response time for callout from the geographical center of the Jenkinsville, SC area.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

High School Graduate

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire/transfer with a Haz-Mat and tanker endorsement.

Office Work Environment Up to 25%
Travel Up to 25%

Other Working Conditions

This position requires the availability to work First Shift. 

M – F; 7am to 3:30 pm

Test Description

No Testing Required-  

Applicants must be able to pass Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) required testing which includes a phycological test, criminal background check and credit check.
