Job Summary
Dominion Energy South Carolina, Jasper Generating Station, located in Jasper County near Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA, seeks a Plant Mechanic. Jasper Generating Station is a 3-on-1 combined-cycle plant which generates 1000 megawatts of electricity with natural gas as the primary fuel. The facility began commercial operation in 2004. This position is responsible for fabricating (as applicable), installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment, structures, valves, and piping systems associated with an electric generating station. Operating various mobile equipment such as cranes, forklifts, man-lifts, back-hoes, tractors, and mowers is also required. Active participation in a safety-focused culture is required (to include wearing required personal protective equipment).
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Power Generation Maintenance Tech I: 0-2 years of work experience in mechanical maintenance/power generation or related field.
Power Generation Maintenance Tech II: 2+ years of work experience in mechanical maintenance/power generation or related field.
All levels (Power Generation Maintenance Tech I/II) require the following knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences.
- Must be in good physical condition and the ability to work during inclement weather.
- Must have a basic working knowledge of pumps, valves, compressors and other related equipment.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to: lift a minimum of 50 pounds or more on a frequent basis; climb tall structures at extreme heights; work overtime, callouts; and rotating shifts.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player with a strong work ethic.
- Incumbents will also be required to occasionally wear a respirator and maintain annual respirator re qualification.
- Must have basic communication/human relations skills.
- Ability to qualify on plant fixed and mobile equipment, including crane(s) is required.
- Successful candidate should be familiar with pipe fitting, mechanical maintenance, rigging, mechanical problem solving, and technical drawing interpretation.
- Welding/cutting/grinding skills are a plus.
Education Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- An associates degree in in a technical field such as Machine Tool Technology is or related field is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
- Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history
- Certificate in Machine Tool Technology is preferred.
