Job Summary

The Security Compliance Team is looking to hire an experienced Senior Investigator to support the Virginia Electric Transmission business unit in the eastern Virginia/North Carolina region. 
 

Responsibilities of the position include: 
 

  • Conducts diverse, complex, and sensitive investigations into issues of significant consequence to the company.
  • Performs complex research and analysis, using a variety of automated systems, to develop pertinent data for investigations.
  • Conducts investigative interviews with internal and external subjects.
  • Provides reports and presentations of investigative results, which enable and support risk management decision making.
  • Serves as Company's agent in matters requiring criminal prosecution.
  • Provides intricate liaison with law enforcement. Provides guidance to company personnel on a variety of security and risk matters.
  • Provides armed, protective support for executives and employees, as required.
  • Provides armed response to emergency situations.
  • Develops and maintains a variety of public and private information sources, to support investigative functions.
  • Provides security leadership in response to all emergency contingencies.
  • Manages and responds to threats impacting company facilities.
  • Develops, implements, and supports security measures for effective business continuity.
  • Conducts security threat and vulnerability assessments of critical facilities.
  • Recommends physical security countermeasures and mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate threats to critical infrastructure.
  • Performs frequent security inspections of facilities to ensure physical security measures are functioning properly.
  • Supports electric transmission substation projects as a security advisor.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.


Please note:  This position can be based out of any of the following Dominion Energy offices:  Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required: 5-6 years' experience in an investigative role in law enforcement, corporate security, regulatory, or other investigative organization.  Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. 
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
 

  • Extensive experience in conducting investigative interviews.
  • Investigative experience in case evaluation, investigative planning, case file management, investigative reporting, case presentation under oath or similar setting.
  • Leadership and security experience.
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with specific issues associated with providing security at an energy company, and issues associated with critical infrastructure protection.
  • Strong record of obtaining high-quality investigative results.
  • Maintains understanding and command of security issues affecting company.
  • Understanding of legal issues related to investigations.
  • Understanding of the assessment of security risks.
  • Consistent demonstration of sound, security decision making.
  • Consistent demonstration of critical thinking skills in a security environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, to provide investigative reports and briefings to Company officers and government officials.
  • Ability to manage the flow of sensitive intelligence information.
  • Ability to obtain a government-issued security clearance, as required.
  • Ability to meet and maintain the Physical Security eligibility requirements to carry a firearm.
  • Experience in conducting security threat and vulnerability assessments.
  • Experience in the deployment of physical security measures
  • Understanding of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Standards as they relate to the physical security protections of the bulk electric system.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
