Job Summary
Electrical Equipment Technician T1 (Developmental Level: Entry level in a job series)
*This is an entry level position and the objectives and courses as listed below in the qualifications description section must be completed to meet the requirements of this position.
Candidate must complete classroom training and demonstrate competency with the following job specific courses:
STEP 1 - Dominion /Safety/Departmental Expectations with Introductory courses:
- Departmental Safety expectations
- Safe Work Practices
- Pre-Job Briefing for Human Performance Processes
Computer-based Work Performance Tools Introductory courses:
- Print Reading
- Substation Fundamental Diagrams
- Basic Test Equipment Functionality
- Work Procedures for High Voltage Substation Environment
- Instruction on the Infrared Camera
Electrical Equipment Technician T1 specialized training in:
- Transformer Oil Sampling and Performing Field Testing
- HV Testing
- Insulation in Aerial Lifts
- Cables and Vacuum Devices
STEP 2 -Introduction and functional concepts of specific pieces of substation equipment:
- Circuit Breakers
- Capacitor Banks Regulators and Load Tap Changers
- Introduction Course in Protective Relays
- More Print Reading
- Training Basic Electronics and Math Review
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
0-2 years of directly related experience
- Prefer knowledge of manufacturer and company equipment installation, maintenance guidelines and electrical test equipment;
- Familiar with programmable logic controllers (PLC's) and electrical control wiring;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of electrical circuits and components;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Ability to carry heavy test equipment (with assistance as needed);
The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.
- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
- Due to equipment weight limits, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 290 pounds.
- Highly preferred: Physically able to lift 50 lbs.
