Job Summary

This position will be filled at either the Vendor Quality Specialist II or Vendor Quality Specialist III. 

 

Performs source surveillance activities at vendor facilities to provide reasonable assurance that components and services comply to specification and quality standards including:

  • Performs quality inspections, surveillances in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting, and observing visual and measurement tests with calibrated equipment, stop work for non-compliant work.  
  • Provides oversight of production activities by approving staff qualifications, ensuring processes and procedures are followed, 
  • Responsible for final acceptance of products, and coordinates material control of non-compliant items through segregation and traceability.  
  • Supports commercial grade dedications by witnessing manufacturing activities, testing of products, and reviewing technical and quality documentation.  
  • Collaborates with manufacturers and project managers to develop inspection schedules, 
  • Responsible for keeping training and qualifications up to date, ability to work in nuclear environment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.  
  • Understanding of nuclear plant systems, equipment, and general operation parameters.  
  • Skilled with handheld measuring and Test devices such as micrometers, borescopes, multi-meters, radius gauges, and go no-go gauges.
  • Competencies with Foreign material, packaging, and non-destructive testing inspections.  
  • Competencies with nuclear industry standards such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ASME, ASTM, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate courage by stopping production when quality concerns arise.
  • Attention to detail with reviews of large volumes of technical and quality documentation to ensure compliance with procurement documents such as specifications, codes, standards, and regulations.  
  • Performs work in an independent environment, high levels of management technical communications, identification of defects in a wide variety of product lines.  
  • Adherence to all internal and external company safety policies and precautions while performing assigned tasks and at all times.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Vendor Quality Specialist II

  • 2-3+ years of directly related experience.
  • Nuclear power experience preferred.
  • Full knowledge of research and planning methodology.
  • Full knowledge of NRC regulations, industry codes, and industry standards.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective personal computer skills (Microsoft Office products/SharePoint).
  • Ability to process, analyze, and interpret information quickly.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Manual dexterity, color vision ability, and hearing ability.
  • Ability to stoop, stand, and bend.

 

Vendor Quality Specialist III

  • 5-6+ years of directly related experience.
  • Nuclear Power experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality program requirements and planning methodology.
  • Full knowledge of NRC regulations, industry codes, and industry standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective personal computer skills (Microsoft Office products/SharePoint).
  • Good coordination and administrative skills.
  • Ability to lead coworkers.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to process, analyze, and interpret information quickly.
  • Manual dexterity, color vision ability, and hearing ability.
  • Ability to stoop, stand, and bend.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Technical Field; Engineering Technology, Chemistry
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Innsbrook nuclear positions must meet DOM QA-1, Section 2.5.5
