We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

This role manages highly complex Electric Transmission projects with significant business and financial impact and formulates strategies on new business initiatives within Electric Transmission.   Manages total project scope from conception to completion for strategic initiatives like private LTE, modular GIS substations and Control Enclosures, digital transformation, and application of advanced grid technologies. Leads interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and implement commercialization opportunities. Performs the evaluation, analysis, and due diligence activities associated with business development initiatives.  Projects may require the development and management of federal contracts and grants, complex permitting, negotiation of contracts, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and development of key partnerships with equipment vendors, technology providers, contractors, universities, and localities. Communicates with internal and external customers to obtain requirements and expectations for project. Performs preliminary estimates and directs scoping teams to determine cost effective solutions to customer needs. Develops project work plans including schedules, budgets, work sequences, etc.  Maintains project budgets and approves project expenditures. Ensures coordination between project functional groups. Ensures proper project documentation and reporting. Provides internal and external customers with continuous, accurate information concerning the projects. Initiates and reviews project correspondence, bids, and quotes with outside companies and contractors. Provides in-depth analyses and reports on current and future strategic initiatives, risk analysis and provides business recommendations to drive actionable decision making, as appropriate. Performs financial analysis to determine cost effective solutions.  Ideal candidate exhibits a robust entrepreneurial spirit, characterized by a proactive approach to getting things done, and penchant for original innovative solutions.
 
 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 8-10+ years directly related experience is required (business development, financial analysis, project management, contract negotiations, economic development, or other similar roles).  
  • Expert knowledge and job specific applications of project management such as engineering and construction techniques, permitting, contract administration, scheduling, materials management, utility accounting, and SCC procedures. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the energy industry.  Electric utility experience is preferred.
  • Excellent financial analysis skills, including budgeting, discounted cash flow analysis, and ability to review and make investment recommendations. 
  • 5+ years experience in grant development and management with Federal and State funding opportunities. 
  • Experience leading commercial contract negotiations and acquisition/partnership negotiations is preferred.  
  • Ability to analyze information and make strategic business recommendations while using sound judgement skills.  
  • Experience working with local/state/federal agencies is preferred.  
  • Excellent communication abilities (oral/written/presentation/interpersonal) to drive results in a team environment along with key internal and external partners/stakeholders. 
  • Strong team building skills with the ability to inspire high performance from others 
  • Self-motivator who is resourceful and comfortable managing ambiguity. 
  • Proactive, diplomatic, and capable of managing complex issues and relationships
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple key project efforts.  
  • Demonstrated computer skills including all MS Office applications.  

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:  Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Economic Development.

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above
